Importance on a balanced diet

The importance of balanced diet for keeping good health beggars

description. It is said that keeping good health is quietly impossible
without maintaining balanced diet. In fact, a balanced diet is a
combination of different kinds of food items of definite colors and levels.
The foods that contain carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins and
minerals are called balanced diet. Carbohydrates, fats, proteins are
considered as major nutrients items these are very essential for our
health. These items provide our body with energy to perform different
kinds of functions. Beating of heart, activity of muscles and brain are
worthy of them.
We know that good health means sound body. The body that is free from
all sorts of diseases is called good health. We can keep good health to
follow some rules and regulations. Eating balanced diet is one of the ways
of keeping good health. Besides, eating vegetables, drinking pure water
and eating balanced diet are the prerequisite of keeping good health. I am
a student and I always try to take balanced diet. Because, I know that
health is wealth and health is the root of all happiness. Balance diet is
essential for keeping good health. If people do not take balanced diet, they
often suffer from various diseases. Therefore, I always try to have
balanced diet. The importance of keeping good health cannot be described
in words.
There is a proverb that a sound mind depends on a sound body. A healthy
man is really lucky because he/she can do his/her duties properly and
become successful in life. There is no alternative to balanced diet for
keeping good health. Therefore, we should take balanced diet to lead
healthy, wealthy comfortable and diseases free life.
A camping trip
As my dad loaded the back of our old, red, Ford Explorer, my mom was shouting
off essentials that we should have packed for our camping trip, but may have
forgotten. When we were finally loaded in and the back was stacked so high that
we couldnt see to back out, with: tents, sleeping bags, and all the necessities
needed for a successful camping trip, we were on our way. As we proceeded west
down the highway we were getting closer and closer to the Franklin Delano
Roosevelt State Park.

When we arrived after a quick, two hour trip, we followed the winding road to pick
out our perfect camp site. After a little evaluating of the flatness of the ground,
the fire pit, and the accessibility of the bath house, we had found it: number

thirty-two, our home for the next three days. We backed the car up and started to
unload all of our things and equipment. It took a little while, but after we had
fought with the tent and made a trek to the bathhouse, we all plopped down and
enjoyed the great view of the lake right beside our campsite. The rest didnt last
long though, we had to gather wood, build a fire, and make dinner before it got
too dark. Deciding what to eat is a struggle for my family if we are home or away
from home, the decision was finally made on grilled hotdogs, baked beans, and
chips. After we had all pitched in to help prepare the meal, it was time to eat.
There was large, cement, picnic-style table where we ate our meals, the benches
were pretty hard and uncomfortable, so we covered them with two quilts that ride
around in the back of my moms SUV. That was a big mistake! Apparently, quilts
that are made by your great grandmother should not be used as table covers,
and are probably worth a lot of money; as we were informed by two elderly
couples who were passing by in their RV. After we finished eating and put our
valuable, antique seat covers back in the car, we decided to go on a walk
around the lake. It was a small lake with a few ducks and birds that lived nearby.
The campground wasnt very crowded, but it was interesting to see what the
other campers were doing and how they were living outside. When we got back,
we all needed to go take showers and get ready to go to bed. We gathered
everything together that we needed and walked to the bathhouse. It was pretty
small and only had two showers, luckily there were not that many people
camping at the same time as us, so we pretty much had it to ourselves. When I
was finally in my tent and laying down, I realized it wasnt that uncomfortable
and I was pretty tired so I fell right asleep to the sound of a faint crackling fire
and distant crickets.

The next morning, breakfast was kind of the same routine as what we had done
to prepare dinner. The air smelled of coffee and fires that had smoldered all night.
It wasnt long until my sister and I had gathered more wood and started up
another fire for breakfast. Our campsite looked pretty clean and organized; we
kept things in the car that we werent using at the time and the rest in our tent.
My mom tied a piece of string between two trees to hang our bath and dish
towels on. I thought it was pretty ingenious, and it worked just like a clothesline.

The only surprise we had on the trip was a visit from a nearby raccoon. It slowly
wondered up to our campsite and sniffed and pawed at the ground. It wasnt
extremely big or small in size, just a normal raccoon that was minding its own
business. We were really in its habitat, so we took a few pictures and left it alone.
It scampered away after a few minutes and our trip was near the end. It felt good
to be going home and to be in a house again, but once in a while I think it is good
for everybody to be a little closer to nature and the outside world.
Internet

The Internet is a worldwide connection of computer systems over a massive network. The most
common form of communication is one way, which is where a website is placed on a server and made
available to people. There is also direct online communication via email, IM or online video and audio.
There is also the middle ground where stationary websites are used as the intermediary between two
or more people.
There are certain advantages to the Internet and certain disadvantages. How it affects you or which
you feel are truly advantageous or disadvantageous are up to you. This essay compares and contrasts
the good and bad points about the Internet and attempts to shine an unbiased focus on both sides.
On the advantages perspective, it has made research a lot easier, as a person may simply hop online
if he or she wants to find out about something. This is especially useful if the person wants to know the
location of a place, or the opening hours etc. Besides, it means that a lot of people may now stay in
touch with a lot more people. It has made communication very simple, easy and convenient. It is
possible to stay in touch with people that you hardly ever see. It is possible to communicate very often
too.

On the other side, which is the disavantages, Nothing online is trustworthy. Even websites
that are supposed to be trusted and are supposed to be reliable are not full of reliable information.
Even major websites that are run by big and trusted companies are using writing firms to write their
websites and the writing firms are simply hiring the cheapest freelancers to do their work for them. It is
true that the Internet has made it easier to find out basic facts such as the location of places, but even
that information is commonly incorrect (as Google maps will happily prove). Some people use the
Internet too much and forgo real life contact. It may now be easier to keep in contact with people you
know, but it has removed any incentive to visit people. People pay fewer visits to other people because
of their contact online.

It is possible to get basic information off of the Internet, but you must check its legitimacy as best you
can. Treat the information you read online with a high degree of skepticism and you will be alright. It is
also a good idea to use the Internet in order to stay in contact with people, as it is easy and
convenient. However, do not allow online contact to start replacing physical contact. It is important to
strike a balance between the two.
In the nutshell, two angles have been compared in both a positive and negative light. It is now up to
you to decide which of these advantages and disadvantages affect you the most. The comparison
between the advantages and disadvantages helps to identify the correct course of action and the
correct way of dealing with the potential advantages and disadvantages of Internet use.

Reading
Reading has at all times and in all ages been a great source of knowledge.
Today the ability to read is highly valued and very important for social and
economic advancement. In todays world with so much more to know and
to learn and also the need for a conscious effort to conquer the divisive
forces, the importance of reading has increased. In the olden days if
reading was not cultivated or encouraged, there was a substitute for it in
the religious sermon and in the oral tradition. In the nineteenth century,
Victorian households used to get together for an hour or so in the evenings
and listen to books being read aloud, But ,today we not only read, we also

want to read more and more and catch up with the events taking place
around us.
Reading skills are essential to succeed in society. Those who are good
readers tend to exhibit progressive social skills. A person who is widely
read is able to mix with others. He is a better conversationalist then those
who do not read. He can stand his ground. Reading broadens the vision. It
is in a way a substitute for travel. It is not possible to travel as much one
would like to and reading can fill in the gap created by the lack of travel.
Having confidence in reading only comes from the daily practice of
reading. A good reader can interact with others in a far better way
because reading has widened his vision and point of view. Thus a widelyread man is a better conversationalist and is able to see the other side
point of view.
Educational researchers have found that there is a strong correlation
between reading and academic success. A student who is a good reader is
more likely to do well in school and pass exams than a student who is a
weak reader. Good reader can understand the individual sentences and
organizational structure of a piece of writing. They can comprehend ideas,
follow arguments and detect implications. Good readers can extract from
the writing what is important for the particular task they are employed in
and they can do it quickly. Educational researchers have also found a
strong correlation between reading and vocabulary knowledge. Students
who have a large vocabulary are usually good readers. This is very
surprising, since the best way to acquire large vocabulary is to read
extensively and if you read extensively youre likely to be or become a
good reader.
Books are no doubt very faithful friend of a reader. They never betray but
accompany the reader, either sitting alone or traveling. Those who are
habitual of reading feel comforted with books. It soothes and relieves
tension and loneliness. Medically it also plays a vital role to eradicate
depression and unrest. Books are great assassins of boredom. It just kills
the boring time.
We are the dwellers of this speedy advancing world. Everything is moving
so fast just like a rocket. To keep the pace, we must also need to do things
that benefit us. Reading is no doubt a stupendous habit. It can make a
stagnant, barren mind rich and cultivatable. It pours rich thoughts in
minds. It brings the best out of someone. Reading also helps one to see
the present in relation to the past and the future and thus develops a
historical perspective. But, care is needed to ensure that reading doesnt
become a substitute for the real life. The moment one ceases to enjoy the
ordinary pleasures and happiness of life and is content to enjoy them
vicariously through fictional and historical representation, one loses all the
benefits of reading and loses contact with life.
As a result of reading books over a period of time, a learning process is
formed. There are a great many benefits to be gained from reading books.

It is proven that in this technological society the demands for higher levels
of literacy are creating unfavorable consequences for those who fall short.
This is even more of reason to get into the habit of reading books, but with
the cinema and television taking up a great deal of attention of children,
teenagers and even adults, the habit of serious reading is dying out. We
must never let it die out.

Listening to Music
Music has a special power to move us and stir our emotions. Anyone who has
ever wiped tears away from their eyes listening to their favourite sad song will
know how powerful simple notes and chords can be.
Now, scientific studies have shown that music really can change our mood and
even help us concentrate.
We look at the effects music can have, and we ask the experts what songs are
likely to help you run a race, prepare for an exam or relieve stress.
Listening to a song can have a real effect on various parts of the brain, with
studies showing that areas responsible for aspects, such as memory and vision,
can 'light up' in response to music.
'There's a very wide range of reactions in the body and mind to music, and brain
imaging studies have shown that various parts of the brain may be activated by a
piece of music,' says Dr Victoria Williamson, lecturer in psychology at Goldsmith's
College, London.
'For example, a recent study in Canada showed that there's a real causal
relationship between music and the reward system, a core part of the brain that
reacts to stimuli, which are good for us food, light, sex for example and
reinforces these behaviours meaning that we do them more.'
So what benefits can music bring?
Everyone reacts to music in different ways. One individual may love heavy metal
for example, while another is happiest listening to Mozart.
Whatever your preference, a 2011 Canadian study, published in Nature
Neuroscience, has shown that plugging in to your favourite music could help melt
away a bad mood.
Researchers at McGill University in Montreal showed that listening to pleasurable
music of any description induced 'musical chills', which triggered the release of
the feel-good chemical dopamine.
'We all know from our own individual experiences that listening to music can
affect mood,' says Bridget O'Connell, head of information at the mental health
charity Mind.
'Some people listen to music for a boost on a tough day, while others might use
music to keep them awake during a long car journey or to purge a negative
feeling.
'The brain is very complicated and there are many elements involved in feelings
of pleasure but it's unsurprising that research suggests dopamine release is
linked with feelings of pleasure induced by music.'
Music may even be able to help you concentrate.
A new 'digital tonic' called Ubrain, which can be downloaded onto smartphones,
claims to be able to help people focus, energise, wake up as well as relax.

The process uses two different beats in each ear to create a third 'perceived' beat
(a binaural beat), which can stimulate certain activity in the brain.
'By helping the brain cortex to generate specific brain waves, we can induce
different states of alertness, depending on what we aim to do,' explains Parisbased clinical psychologist Brigitte Forgeot.
'If we're feeling anxious or stressed, we can encourage our cerebral cortex to
produce slow alpha-frequency brain waves, while on the other end of the scale, if
we help our cortex to produce faster beta waves, we will be better equipped to
concentrate and focus our attention on a fairly lengthy task.'
Listening to certain music could actually help you run faster.
A study at Brunel University in West London has shown that music can help
increase endurance by as much as 15 per cent, helping to lower the perception of
effort during exercise, as well as increasing energy efficiency by between one and
three per cent.
The best choices for exercise are up-beat songs that match the tempo of your
running stride and which can have a metronomic effect on the body, enabling
you to run for longer.
Music can be an effective and positive treatment for people dealing with mental
health conditions.
'There are two distinct ways music therapy is used: either as a means of
communication and self-expression or for its inherent restorative or healing
qualities,' says Bridget O'Connell.
'Someone who is very withdrawn may find that music can act as an outlet for
expressing things that they're unable to put into words. It can also act as a
stimulus to awaken buried memories or evoke emotional responses that may take
weeks to achieve with talking therapies.'
Music can be a great pick-me-up for when you are feeling stressed.
According to 2011 figures from the mental health charity Mind, nearly a third of
people plugged into their music players to give them a mood boost about work,
and almost one in four said that they find listening to music on the way to the
workplace helps them de-stress.
Paul Farmer, the charity's CEO, backs up the statistics by saying that the
therapeutic benefits of listening to music are well-known.
Tuning in to one of your favourite songs can be incredibly soothing and help to
reduce anxiety.
Music can actually have a significant positive impact on patients with long-term
illnesses, such as heart disease, cancer and respiratory conditions.
Numerous trials have shown that music can help lower heart rate, blood
pressure and help relieve pain, anxiety and improve patient quality of life.
'Music can be incredibly useful for somebody who is in a situation where they
have lost a lot of control from their external environment say they are in
hospital for a long period of time with a serious illness and less able to move
around,' says Dr Williamson.
'It can give them a sense of control back, as well as creating a calm personal
atmosphere and blocking out some of the disturbances around the patient.'

Littering
Have you ever thought about what your community would look like
without litter? If so, it may take a while to find out. One person throwing

something on the ground may not think much of it, however, when that
trash finds other trash, they begin to build up and make big piles of junk.
For example, I am sure people never thought that if they littered, their
trash would end up in the pacific garbage patch. Believe it or not, no one
thinks that until you look at the pacific garbage patch and see how
disgusting it looks just because people were to lazy to throw their trash
away. To make matters worse, littering has become very common, which
should be stopped because in most cases, trash is not disposed of
properly, leading to innocent people having to spend money on clean up,
or big piles of trash on peoples lawns.
If littering is not stopped, more money will be wasted, more things will be
damaged, and innocent peoples lives could be effected. Imagine someone
tossing a cigarette out of their window. That cigarette gets blown onto
someones yard and is eaten by their pet. That pet could become seriously
sick because of someone else's laziness. According to www.kab.org, over
51 billion pieces of litter land on U.S. roadways each year. That is just
roadways. For that cleanup, America spends 11.5 billion dollars each year.
9.1 billion of those dollars are paid by businesses, with the other 2.4 billion
being paid between schools, government, and other organizations.
Another reason why if all this littering could be disposed of properly,
America would have much more money put toward other important
things.
It is obvious people who litter dont understand the harmful effects they
cause. For starters, debris can be carried into local waterways effected the
water. Also, nearly 7 billions tons of debris end up in the ocean each year.
Nearly 100,000 sea mammals are killed by this debris each year. What
most people dont know, is litter can be a serious fire hazard. It kills wild
life, and the cleanup money is taken out of taxes. Selfish people who litter
in the first place, may not think these effects are harmful because it
doesnt effect them at all, however just think about all the innocent people
and animals you are effecting before you litter. Remember, the trash you
are about to throw on the ground, could end up in an animals mouth,
making them choke to death. Not littering is common sense. If you litter,
you are effecting your community, all your friends and families, and
making your environment look worse. If you dont litter, there wouldnt be
billions of dollars spent on litter cleanup, and you wouldnt have to worry
about harming an innocent person or animal.
In order to put an end to all this littering, it needs to start with everyone
playing their correct role in society. Although it is not very enforced,
littering is illegal. If people would all obey the law, there wouldnt be an
issue. But for those who dont obey the law, it needs to become stricter.
There should be more cops out there on the look out for people littering,
and for people who get caught littering, there should be more of a
punishment so they know to never do it again. This would also be a great
way to open up new jobs by having people look out for, and clean up litter
at all times.

Like the members of the organization Pro Ambiente, in Costa Rica who
volunteer their time to pick up after others said Litter can harm the
environment in a number of different ways. It is a breeding ground for
disease- causing insects and rodents. Its ugliness damages the
appearance of scenic environments . Other experts like Steven Stein, a
litter analyst for Maryland waste-consulting firm found that on a one-mile
stretch of road, they found nearly 2,000 pieces of litter consisting of paper,
plastic, car parts, and construction debris. All that litter is life threatening
because they are known to cause car accidents. Would you still litter
knowing you may be unintentionally killing someone very close to you?
There are still many people out there who dont think littering is harmful.
They dont look into the facts and think that their litter will eventually be
picked up before effecting anyone. In some cases, they may be right. A
good person out there may come across their trash and pick it up. But
more often then not, they are wrong and their trash remain on the
ground.
All in all, littering needs to be stopped. Although it will take a while, it is
possible. With the organizations out there trying their best to pick up all
the trash out there, if cops become more strict about this law and look out
for more litterers, and make the punishment much more strict, I believe in
the future, littering will be much more uncommon and the environment
will look more beautiful.
