(Plant Production)

I.

OVERVIEW
Plants are vital to man for many reasons. They provide the
needed oxygen for man to exist---food, shelter, medicine, clothing, and
many other products useful to daily life. It is important for the students
to know all aspects related to plants especially its origin and how they
grow for this will be their guide on how the plant production arises.
This chapter will make the students realize that plant production
does not only supply fresh vegetables for the family but it is also
providing a wholesome recreational activity and self-fulfilment for a
worthwhile undertaking.

II.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the period, students will be able to:
1. Identify the parts of a plant and how they grow.
2. Differentiate the various methods of planting and basic garden
tools.
3. Discuss the importance of cultivation, weeding and irrigation.
4. Enumerate the kinds of plants pest.
5. Cite the importance of proper harvesting and marketing for gaining
high profit.

B. ACTIVITY:
1. The class will read and analyse the poem Trees. They will asked to
share what their own meaning of poem and relate the poem to our
lesson about plants.
C. ANALYSIS:
The teacher will asks some questions that students need to answer.
1. What is plant?
2. How plant grows?
3. What is your idea when you heard the word plant production?
D. ABSTRACTION:
1. The teacher will discuss the following:
What are the parts, functions and classification of the plant?
How a plant develops from a seed?
Why is it important to prepare the soil?
Why do we need to remove the weeds?
What are the different plant pests and plant diseases?
Why is the element of time for farmers to harvest and then to
market their product is very important?
2. The students will cites some knowledge or their experiences
related to the topic.
E. APPLICATION:
1. The teacher will flash a picture and the students will explain
how important the plants to us.
V.

GENERALIZATION:
The teacher will ask the student to formulate one question from the
concepts that are related to plants. Afterwards, he will choose from his
classmates to answer his question.

VALUING:
The students will be asked to reflect on this statement. My fake plants
died because I did not pretend to water them.-Mitch Hedberg

EVALUATION:
The students will answer a 10- point quiz on the topic.

VIII.

ASSIGNMENT:
Make a research on climate factors that help vegetable growers in
Benguet and other upland vegetable producing area in the country.
