The objective is to extend thermodynamic analysis through the study of three different modes of
heat transfer (i.e., conduction, convection, and radiation) and learn how to develop proper relation
to calculate each heat transfer rate.

. Course Format
(* In detail)

3 units (design 1 unit), Three hours of lecture per week

We plan to teach interactively, rather than by a strict lecture format. The class will include coverage
of fundamentals as well as applications.

. Course Requirements and Grading Criteria

The goals of this class are that students will:
1.

develop a strong physical and conceptual understanding of heat and mass transfer processes
as well as mathematical expressions for each transfer process

2.

learn about their application to practical systems

The grading will be based on two exams (mid-term and final), design assignments, homework, and
class participation
