John Sostrich
John has had such an eventful
life! And has had a huge impact
on everyone and everything he
has touched.
John was born on March 8,
1930, in the small town of
Strawn, Texas. Strawn is midway
between Forth Worth and
Abilene. At age 5, John moved
to Carlsbad, New Mexico, where
he spent the remainder of his
childhood.
After high school, John went
into the Navy and was a baker
for four years. John worked his
way up the ranks to commander.
John loved being a baker in the
Navy, and he said that job was
what he was born to do.
After the Navy, John attended
the University of California, San
Diego, where he earned a
Bachelor of Science degree in
Philosophy.
John enjoys painting, writing
poetry, reading, gardening,
wood working, fishing, tennis
and baking.
John is such a delight! We are
thrilled that he has joined our
Mission Hills family!

Lani Pila ~ Assisted

Living Caregiver
Lani is an amazing caregiver!
She has been with Mission Hills
for 15 years.
Born in the Philippines on
Halloween, Lani lived there
until she moved to the United
States in 1996.
Lani has four brothers and
two sisters. She married Ben Pila
in 1997, and their lives have
been an adventure ever since.
Lani loves to cook and bake,
mostly Philippine specialties.
She also enjoys spending time
relaxing with her husband.
Taking care of people is what
Lani says that she was born to
do. She loves all of the residents
at Mission Hills and is so happy
to be working here.
Thanks Lani for all that you
do! You are very special to
everyone that you care for and
work with!

Support Group
Zachary McCormick will be
facilitating our free monthly
Alzheimers Support Group. This
group is opened to anyone. The
meeting will be held 3 - 4 p.m.
on Saturday, Sept. 5.
