FALLOUT SHELTER ACTIVITY

This activity is based on the game Fallout Shelter, available for Android and iOS devices. In the game you
control a vault that protects people after a nuclear apocalypse. You must ensure that your vault dwellers survive
and thrive in their new home.

Your WATER and POWER resources are what keeps your vault going.
-WATER: Clean water is hard to come by in the Wasteland. Run low on WATER and your Dwellers
will take Radiation damage. WATER is created in the Water Treatment room.

-POWER: Your vault cant run without POWER. Run low on POWER and your rooms will begin
shutting down. POWER is created in the Power Generator room.

Every Dweller has stats called SPECIAL

S (trength), P (erception), E (ndurance), C (harisma), I (ntelligence), A (gility), L (uck)
Every room in the vault is linked to one of the SPECIAL stats. The better the Dwellers stat is for that room, the
more they influence the rooms production.
The Power Generator room requires Strength; the Water Treatment room requires Perception.

Suppose you have two Dwellers:

Wayne Harvey

and

Todd Morgan

Wayne has a Strength of 5 and a Perception of 2; that means he can produce 180 POWER per hour or 72
WATER per hour
Todd has a Strength of 3 and a Perception of 3; that means he can produce 108 POWER per hour or 108
WATER per hour

1. Suppose Wayne and Todd each produced their own WATER and POWER. Wayne and Todd spent 4hrs a day
producing POWER and 4 hours a day producing WATER. How much WATER and POWER would they
produce on their own? How much total WATER and POWER would they produce?

2b. Who has the ABSOLUTE ADVANTAGE in producing each resource?

2c. Who has the COMPARATIVE ADVANTAGE in producing each resource?

3a. Suppose Wayne and Todd decided to spend all day (8 hours) producing their comparative advantage
resource; then trading their resources with the other. How much WATER and POWER would they each
produce? How much extra WATER and POWER will they have?
