Reflection on

San Andreas

X - Kelvin

I.

The Movie
a. What had caused the narrow gaps between cliffs where the girl and her
car fell?
- It was caused by a fault line caused by the collision of plates.
b. What safety precaution is not done when the 7.1 magnitude of
earthquake hit the Hoover dam?
- The people did not tuck, cover and hold. They kept panicking.
c. What was the professor trying to explain when he showed the faultline?
- He was trying to explain that the 5.6 magnitude earthquake they
experienced was just a pre-earthquake and that they have to be
ready since they may even be able to experience a more

II.

destructive earthquake since the strength of the waves in 2

earthquakes did not change. Meaning, it will still be stronger.
d. What safety procedure/precaution was violated by Daniel when the
magnitude of 6.5 struck the hotel?
He asked the driver to hurry to the exit which was wrong. He
should have had all of them to tuck cover and hold. Since they
hurried, there was a bigger possibility that they would be hit by
falling obstacles.
e. How did Emma survive from the earthquake?
- She survived the earthquake since the 2 brothers helped him get
out. Their very presence was key to her survival. If they did not help
her push the fallen building part, she would have been stuck.
f. How did the gap form in the field where the San Andreas Fault line
traverses?
- It was caused by a transverse fault boundary where 2 plates slide
past each other. Thus causing the land to crack.
g. How did the San Francisco Bridge collapse?
- It was caused by the tsunami which brought the cargo ship to the
land then it hit the bridge.
h. How did the tsunami form if the San Andreas Fault line is situated near
the coastlines?
Since seismic waves travel away from the origin, the seismic wave
have reached the ocean floor. It has then caused an underwater
earthquake. Which caused a tsunami.
i. What area is the safest when tsunami strikes and you are riding a boat
and there is no way for you to go to a higher ground?
- It is safest to go above the wave before it is able to crest. If you are
able to go above the wave before it crests, it will not be able to hit
you. But, if you are not able to go above it, it will be able to hit you.
j. Youve been warned! Where will you be? Who will you be with?
- I will go to an evacuation center. It is the safest possible place to be
in an earthquake. I will also stay away from high places since higher
places tend to collapse if an earthquake happens. I will go with the
proper personal.
Reflection
- I think that the movie is very effective in making the people more
aware of what will happen if earthquakes do happen. Even if the
movie is a bit of an exaggeration, it still shows people what could
possibly happen if earthquakes happen. I really like the movie since
it helps people know what to do when an earthquake happens. It
helps people become more aware of what to do if earthquakes
happen.
