2] The Ministry of Railways has decided to increase the Advance Reservation Period (ARP) for
booking accommodation in trains from 60 days to 120 days (excluding the date of journey).

47] The government has retained the rate of interest for General Provident Fund (GPF) and
other related schemes at 8.7% for the current fiscal. The 8.7 $ interest will apply on Provident
Funds of central government employees, railways and defence forces, according to the
notification issued by the Finance Ministry.
48] A Japanese magnetic levitation train, set a world speed record Tuesday in a test run near
Mount Fuji, clocking more than 373 miles per hour (600 kilometers) an hour. The train beat the
590km/h speed it had set last week in another test.

more satellites from four countries using Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle.
62] The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully test-fired the indigenous
cryogenic engine CE-20 for 645 seconds. This significant development can push India into a
bigger league of nations launching satellites weighing up to five tonnes.
