Chapter 4 Installation
4.1 Package Content
Check the contents of the box against the packing checklist. Verify that you received all listed equipment, check the model
and the number of the device and spare parts, including the following:
1 (one) unit CPE08
1 (one) unit AC/DC power cord or adapter plug (depend on your order)
After you have specified the installation location for the equipment, clear up the place and move the
cartons with equipment packed inside close to the installation location;
Step 2.
Pay attention to the direction of the package to ensure that the front side is upward;
Step 3.
Unpack the cartons and pick out the equipment and accessories.
Step 4.
Do not discard the shipping cartons and poly bag when you unpack the equipment. Flatten and store them.
You will need the containers if you need to move or ship the equipment in the future.
The equipment is built-in with sensitive devices. Therefore please handle with care and try to avoid severe
vibration..
11 | P a g e
Place the unit upside-down on the flat surface. Please choose a sturdy table to make sure the equipment is
safe.
Step 2.
Place the power supply unit on a desktop near an AC power source. Do not stack the power supply on the
equipment. We recommend you to place the equipment near an electrical power outlet.
Step 3.
A dedicated chassis grounding stud is located in the left side of the rear panel. There is
connect the grounding lug properly.
Step 4.
The equipment has an excellent thermal design for heat transfer and use of natural cooling mode. The
device must be ventilated, or the installation must allow unrestricted airflow for cooling. Overheating can
cause permanent damage to the unit.
Step 5.
symbol,
Ensure the installation of equipment in a 19"/23" standard rack (compliant with ETS 300119 or IEC
60297). A standard rack-mount kit is included for mounting the equipment in a standard 19-inch (48.3 cm)
equipment rack with two unobstructed outer posts, with a nominal depth (between the front and rear
mounting posts) of 19.25 inches (48.9 cm) and a maximum depth of 32 inches (81.3 cm).
Step 2.
The equipment has a built-in L bracket, you will need to prepare the screwdriver to install the chassis in a
rack.
Step 3.
Step 4.
Align the mounting holes in the L bracket with the mounting holes in the equipment rack.
Step 5.
Secure the chassis using two 12-24 x 3/4-inch screws per side through the elongated holes in the L
bracket and into the threaded holes in the mounting post.
Step 6.
Make sure that the equipment is installed securely. Tighten any loose captive installation screws.
Step 7.
The equipment has an excellent thermal design, chassis from steel with excellent heat transfer, use of
natural cooling mode. The device, under the guarantee must be ventilated, or at least stay out of 1U
(4.5cm) of space for heat dissipation, do not place heavy objects on top of equipment.
Step 8.
The chassis is automatically grounded when install the equipment into a rack. However, for extra
grounding protection, a dedicated chassis grounding stud is located in the left side of the rear panel. There
is "
4.3 Power On
Step 1.
After installing the equipment to a designated location, choose the proper power supply either AC power
or DC power will be used, depending on the model ordered.
12 | P a g e
Step 2.
If equipment adopts DC power supply, use appropriate power wire, with red/blue wire connected with 48V (low level voltage cable), black wire connected with 0V (GND) (high level voltage cable). Make
sure of firm installation and no short-circuit.
Step 3.
If equipment adopts AC power supply, you should use standard power cable. Plug the power cord into a
power receptacle of CPE08 power module and the other end to your power outlets. Power cable uses
power cord with a CEE 7/7 plug (European wall socket) at the left end, and an IEC C13 at the right end,
as shown in Figure4-1.
Step 4.
Make sure that the power source for -48V DC or 220V AC is normal.
Step 5.
Set the power switch to the | (On) position. The green Power LED on the power supply lights, indicating
that the power supply is supplying power to the chassis. The Run LED indicator flashes indicating that
the device is working properly.

6.1 Maintenance
Maintenance generally refers to communication system maintenance. Its not only limited to this equipment, but also
includes lines/cables, external supporting equipment and site environment. Proper use of preventive maintenance
procedures can keep the CPE08 series equipment in top operating condition and minimize the need for costly, timeconsuming service procedures.
Site Maintenance
Maintenance procedures that you should perform regularly are maintaining your site environment.
Using the LEDs for Maintenance
User mainly obtains alarm information from alarm LED indicators, so user should pay attention to light or
blinking status during daily maintenance. From this aspect, user can examine on whether equipment works
properly or not.
Check on Equipment Alarm through EMS
Network management system can monitor real time performance without terminating traffic. It can also monitor
faults, judge fault type and find fault location. Therefore, its an effective tool for preventive maintenance and
fault processing.
There is not necessary for daily adjustment and test for the equipment. Many maintenance rules for analog
equipment do not apply to digital equipment. This equipment only needs regular precautionary monitoring,
instead of precautionary debugging. Do not check equipment if no obvious serious fault occurs in the network to
avoid human error.
6.2 Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting is the identification or diagnosis of "trouble" in the system caused by a failure of some kind. The problem
is initially described as symptoms of malfunction, and troubleshooting is the process of determining the causes of these
symptoms so that it can be solved.
