INTRODUCTION TO PROJECT
Objective: The project, Shoe Showroom Management presents a
contemporary approach to programming, stressing the importance of clarity,
legibility, modularity and efficiency in program design. The subject matter of this
project has been presented in simple language and lucid style.
The main objective of this project is to provide efficient processing of
managing an Shoe Showroom. The use of an interactive programming style is
emphasized throughout the project. This project is specially designed to make the
processing very easy and effective of a Shoe Showroom in place of the existing
one.
Scope: This project is particularly well suited for advanced processing of
any Shoe Showroom specially an educational college and can be better used in a
better way in the context of the changed scenario. This project contains all the
necessary aspects which are required to handle any Shoe Showroom that of an
educational college too.
The silent features of the program are as follows:
Display record of the brands of shoes in the Shoe Showroom into the database
through the Project.
Prepare the bill using the following divisions:
1. Type of shoes:
1.1. According to Quality (e.g. Leather)
1.2. According to wearer (e.g. Gents, Ladies, Child)
2. Company of the Shoe
3. Size of the Shoe
4. Rate and Quantity of the shoe
PREFACE
Generation of high quality skilled manpower in computer software area
assumed great significance in the context of the changed global scenario.
Information technology due to undergoing rapid technological development has
been the fastest growing sector of the Indian industry. Computer has invaded our
society and become integral part of our lives. Computer programming is a
demanding skill, much like creative, writing or playing a musical instrument.
The project, Shoe Showroom Management presents a contemporary
approach to programming, stressing the importance of clarity, legibility, modularity
and efficiency in program design. The subject matter of this project has been
presented in simple language and lucid style. The use of an interactive
programming style is emphasized throughout the project. It is particularly well
suited for advanced processing of any Shoe Showroom and can be better used in a
better way in the context of the changed scenario, for our Shoe Showroom in place
of the existing one.
Regarding the project the matter was discussed with the Principal of the
college and other local libraries in the city, asking his requirements, if any. They
gave me a list of his requirements which according to him were the essentials for
the above project. The outcome of this discussion was the birth of this project.
I also asked him to show me the existing system and the shortcomings, if
any. I studied the system deeply and prepared a list of the shortcomings and its
limitations. During the study I also find out the plus points in the existing system.
Then the matter was also discussed with the librarian of the college. They
provided me with number of advices which were beneficial for me in the
preparation of the project. I also asked them about their requirements regarding the
project. They also told me the limitations according to them which they find in the
existing project. I examined the limitations provided to me by the Principal and the
Librarian of

FEASIBILITY STUDY
During the feasibility study, the analyst evaluates the existing system. This
study provides a clear sense of direction for the subsequent development of the
system. The analyst estimates the costs and benefits of the proposed system. He
also evaluates other alternates to the systems, and estimates the feasibility of the
system technically and economically to determine whether it is worth wile to
proceed with project.

DEFINATION OF THE
PROBLEM
Actually the success of a project depends on problem defined and correctly
carried out. Importance should be given to user needs rather than their wants. Often
problems come into focus after a joint meeting between the user and the analyst.
The first question that came in my mind was what the problem was
regarding the storage of books in the college. Regarding the problems the matter
was discussed with the Librarian of the college, asking his problems, if any. He
gave me a list of his problems which according to him were very necessary to
avoid in the existing system. The outcome of this discussion was the birth of this
project.
I also asked him to show me the existing system and the shortcomings, if
any. I studied the system deeply and prepared a list of the shortcomings and its
limitations. During the study I also find out the plus points in the existing system.

SYSTEM PLANNING
System Planning: The most critical phase of managing system projects is
planning. To launch a system investigation, we need a master plan detailing the
steps to be taken, the people to be questioned, and the outcome to be expected. The
initial investigation has the objective of determining whether the user request has
potential merit. The major steps are determining user requirements, studying the
present system to verify the problem, and defining the performance expected by
the candidate system to meet user requirements. When the initial investigation is
completed, the user receives a system proposal summarizing the findings and
recommendations of the analyst.

How to determine the users information requirements?
What other areas in the Shoe Showroom are affected by the problem?
What opinions are available concerning a solution to the problem?

the limitations provided to me by the Principal and short listed the limitations and
shortcomings in the existing system.
I analyzed the above limitations deeply and tried my best to resolve the
limitations in my project and also provide some extra facilities in the project.
SYSTEM IMPLEMENTATION
A crucial phase in the systems life cycle is the successful implementation of the
new system design. Implementation simply means converting a new system design
into operation. Or in other words it can be said Implementation means the process
of onverting a new or a revised system design into an operational one. This
involves creating computer compatible files, training the operating staff and
installing hardware, terminals before the system is up and running. The conversion
of a old system into a new one should be exciting because it is the last step before
the candidate system begins to show results.
In system implementation user training is crucial for minimizing resistance to
change and giving the new system a chance to prove its worth. Training aids such
as user friendly manuals, a data dictionary provide the user with a good start on the
new system.
In the project Shoe Showroom Management the end users of the system are
the librarian of the college. They have been provided with all the necessary
requirements that are required with the new system. They have also been provided
with the user manual that will guide in running the new system.
The subject matter of this project has been presented in simple language and
lucid style. The use of an interactive programming style is emphasized throughout
the project.

SYSTEM MAINTENANCE
Maintenance is the enigma of system development. It holds the software
industry captive, tying up programming resources. Analysts and programmers
spend more and more time maintaining programs than they do writing them.
Maintenance accounts for 50-80 percent of total system development.
Many maintenance measures have been taken in the preparation of the
project Shoe Showroom Management. A good audit trail is the key to detecting
errors and frauds in the new system.
There are certain measures which are been used in the project so that no
blank record is entered in the database at the time of record entry. It is done so
because the entry of the blank record will create problems in the database as there
will be a roll no allotted in the database for the blank record. Thus it will create
confusion in the mind of the end user. Therefore the entrance of blank record into
the database has been avoided. It can be seen in the record entry form where
pressing the down arrow key will only start the entry of records. The student has
been allowed two books two issue , they cannot issue more than two books so
security has been taken. Moreover before issuing it is considered that whether book
is available or not.
The book id in the project are automatically entered while issuing not
manually. Thus there will be no confusion in the mind of the end user whether to
allot the book id.
Security consideration has also been taken into consideration. First the user
has to enter the correct password then only he/she can do rest of the processing.
Thus, unauthorized users are unable to access the processing of the result.

compared to see if there are any discrepancies. This continues for a period of time,
until all aspects of the new system are tested for accurate results, after which the
old system is discontinued.
