One Rank One Pension scheme

The Central Government allotted Rs 1,000 crore for the implementation of one rank one
pension scheme. According to the scheme, the armed forces personnel holding the same
rank will get the same pension, regardless of the last drawn pay, years of service and the
years served in a particular rank.

Housing for All by 2022' scheme


Stating that the Government is committed to its endeavour to have housing for all by 2022,
the Modi Government allocated Rs 4000 crore for affordable housing in Union Budget 2014.
The Modi Government also proposed to set up a Mission on Low Cost Affordable Housing to
be anchored in the National Housing Bank.

Jan Dhan Yojana


The scheme is aimed to give access to basic financial services for low-income groups of
society.
Highlights:
- Launched on August 28, 2014.
- 1.5 crore bank accounts opened on first day.
- 12.58 crore bank accounts opened till 28 January 2015.
Make in India campaign
This initiative seeks to facilitate investment and encourage companies to manufacture their
products in India.
Highlights:
- Launched on September 25, 2015.
- The initiative mainly focuses on 25 sectors of the economy to foster skill enhancement and
create job opportunities.
- These include sectors such as automobiles, chemicals, IT, pharmaceuticals, textiles, ports,
aviation, leather, tourism and hospitality, wellness, railways, auto components, design
manufacturing, renewable energy, mining, biotechnology, electronics etc.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
A national level cleanliness drive, this program aims to encourage all citizens to take up the
initiative and also involve others to clean India.
Highlights:

- Launched on October 2, 2014.


- The campaign aims to address the issues of sanitation, waste disposal, open defecation,
lack of toilets, manual scavenging etc.
Government employees, students, politicians and celebrities have lent their support to the
campaign.
- The campaign aims to accomplish the vision of 'Clean India' by October 2, 2019, the 150th
birthday of Mahatma Gandhi.
Beti Bachao Beti Padao Yojana
The program seeks to promote gender sensitisation, awareness against female foeticide and
education for girls.
Highlights:
- Launched from Panipat in Haryana on January 22, 2015.
- PM Modi invited suggestions for the program from citizens on the MyGov portal.
- In addition, a special deposit scheme for the girl child called the Sukanya Samriddhi
account has been launched, where parents or legal guardians of a girl child under 10 years
can open an account with a minimum deposit of Rs 1,000 in any post office or authorised
branches of commercial bank. Interest received is 9.2% and is tax free.

MUDRA Bank
The Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency Bank is aimed at providing loans at low
rates to small entrepreneurs
Highlights:
- Launched on April 8, 2015
- Aims to extend finance and credit support to small businesses, retailers etc.
- Mudra Bank classifies clients into three categoriesShishu: Allowed loans up to Rs 50,000.
Kishore: Allowed loans up to Rs 5,00,000
Tarun: Allowed loans up to Rs 10,00,000

Efforts to unearth Black Money


Promising to track down and bring back black money stashed in foreign banks and offshore
accounts was a major point on which the Modi government was given the people's mandate.

Highlights:
-The government announced an SIT (Special Investigation Team) headed by Justice MB Shah
in accordance with orders of the Supreme Court.
- On May 14, 2015, the Rajya Sabha passed the Undisclosed Foreign Income and Assets
(Imposition of Tax) Bill 2015, better known as black money bill. The bill was earlier passed by
the Lok Sabha in a single day. Those who conceal income and assets, and indulge in tax
evasion in relation to foreign assets can face rigorous imprisonment of up to 10 years and a
hefty penalty on concealed income and assets.
- On May 13, 2015 the Cabinet approved the new The Benami Transactions (Prohibition)
(Amendment) Bill, 2015, which provides for stringent measures against violators. The Bill
provides for attachment and confiscation of benami properties and also fine with
imprisonment.
Smart Cities
Ahead of his election last May, Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised 100 smart cities by
2022 to take the pressure off the metro cities. It intends to promote the adoption of smart
technology-based solutions for efficient use of available assets, resources and infrastructure.
Highlights:
- On April 29, 2015, the Union Cabinet cleared the '100 smart cities' project and the new
urban renewal mission with a total outlay of about Rs 1 lakh crore.
- Under this, each selected city will get central assistance of Rs 100 crore annually for five
years.
- The government has earmarked Rs 48,000 crore for development of smart cities
- This is Indian government's flagship project and aims to provide housing for all by 2022.
- Many countries like the US, Spain, Singapore, etc have reportedly envisaged their interest
in partnering with India in developing these smart cities.
- A smart city in Gujarat is currently under construction.
Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Shramev Jayate Karyakram
This scheme was launched to improve employability, skill development and other
conveniences to the labour.
Highlights:
- Launched on October 16, 2014
- Portability of employee's PF (provident fund) accounts through a universal account number
- A minimum pension of Rs 1,000 per month has been introduced for the first time under this
scheme.

- To ensure covering vulnerable groups under the EPF scheme, the wage ceiling has also
been raised from Rs 6,500 to Rs 15,000 per month.
- Labourers will also get a Unique Labour Identification numbers (LIN) to facilitate their
online registration.
Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana
One of the Prime Minister's Independence Day mantras, the village development scheme
cuts across political aisles involving all nearly 800 Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs.
Highlights:
- Each MP has to take the responsibility of developing three villages as model villages by
2019.
- All MPs have to develop one model village by the year 2016 in their constituency and two
more by 2019.
-The project involves overall development of a village, including sanitation, education and
health facilities.
Integrated Ganga Conservation Mission Namami Gange
River Ganga's conservation and development was a major talking point for Prime Minister
Narendra Modi during his campaign
- A separate ministry has been created to look after the Ganga clean up project.
- Under 'Namami Gange' the schemes of pollution abatement, ghat beautification works and
a host of other things.
- The Union Budget allocated a budget outlay of Rs 20,000 crore for the project till 2020

Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana


This is a rural electrification project with the goal to provide all houses with electricity

Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission


To improve infrastructure in rural and semi rural areas
Soil Health Card Scheme for every farmer
-Each farmer to be provided with a soil heath card for optimal use.
-Housing for all by 2022

Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana


-To provide the facility of irrigation to all formers who are dependent on rain water now.
-Self Employment and Talent Utilisation (SETU) programme
-Rs 1000 crore has been set aside to be used by NITI ayog for investing in startups.

Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana


-To make 1 million youth job ready by 2017.

HRIDAY (National Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana) scheme


-Launched to conserve heritage of 12 cities.
-These include Amritsar, Varanasi, Gaya, Puri, Ajmer, Mathura, Dwarka, Badami, Velankanni,
Kanchipuram, Warangal and Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh).

Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana


It is a low premium insurance scheme which will link with the Pradhan Mantri Jhan Dhan
Yojna.
Key points of the scheme:
(i) Age limit 18 yrs 50 yrs
(ii) Premium payable for this scheme is Rs.330 per year i.e. less than Rs.1 per day.
(iii) Risk coverage of Rs.2 Lakh in case of death for any reason.

Atal Pension Yojana (APY)


It is a scheme mainly for workers in unorganized sector. The scheme will be administered by
the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) and replace the previous
governments Swavalamban Yojana NPS Lite.
Key points of the scheme:
(i) Minimum & Maximum pension The subscribers who will joined the scheme would receive
the fixed pension of Rs. 1000 per month, Rs. 2000 per month, Rs. 3000 per month, Rs. 4000
per month, Rs. 5000 per month, at the age of 60 years, depending on their contributions.
(ii) Age limit: 18 yrs 40 yrs.

(iii) A subscriber can contribute for minimum period of 20 years or more and pension
payment will start at the age of 60 years.

(iv) The government of India has decided to co-contribute 50% of the subscribers
contribution or Rs. 1000 per annum, whichever is lower, to each eligible subscriber account,
for a period of 5 years, i.e., from 2015-16 to 2019-20, who join the NPS before 31st
December, 2015 and who are not income tax payers.

Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana


It is an insurance scheme which covers death or disablement of the policyholder caused due
to accident or accidental injuries.
Key points of the scheme:
(i) Age limit: 18 yrs 70 years.
(ii) The scheme will be a one year cover, renewable from year to year and would be
administered through the Public Sector General Insurance Companies in collaboration with
Banks.
(iii) Risk coverage: The Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana will offer an accidental death
and full disability cover of Rs. 2 Lakh and for partial disability cover of Rs. 1 Lakh.
(iv) Premium: Rs.12 per annum. The premium will be directly auto-debited by the bank from
the subscribers account.

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana


It is a small deposit scheme for the girl child.
Key points of the scheme
(i) Age Limit The upper age limit of the girl child for opening this account is 10 years. The
govt. has given a relaxation of one year in the upper age limit for those opening accounts till
December 1, 2015
(ii) Minimum & Maximum deposit: The minimum deposit under the scheme is Rs. 1000/-. The
maximum deposit is Rs. 1.5 lakhs.
(iii) Interest rate: The government will announce the interest rate of the scheme every year.
However, the government of India has increased the rate of interest from 9.1% (2014-15) to
9.2% (2015-16) for this financial year.
(iv) Maturity period: The maturity period of the scheme is 21 years from the date of account
opening, though deposits need to be made only for the first 14 years.

(v) The minimum lock-in in period under the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is 11 years.
Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY)
Agriculture Irrigation Scheme.
Key points:
(i) Scheme aims at providing irrigation facilities to every village in the country by converging
ongoing irrigation schemes implemented by various ministries.
(ii) Budgetary allocation: 1,000 crore rupees for fiscal year 2015-16.
(iii) Funding Pattern: Centre- States will be 75: 25 per cent. In case of north-eastern region
and hilly states it will be 90:10.
Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana
Financial inclusion initiative Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna has entered into the Guinness
Book of World Records, by opening nearly 11.50 crore bank accounts in the shortest period
of time. The Guinness Book of World Records has also recognized the achievements made
under PMJDY and has given a certificate stating that the most bank accounts opened in one
week as part of the financial inclusion campaign is 1.8 crore.
Key points:
(i) Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana Scheme for financial inclusion launched was launched
by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 28th Aug 2014 to help the poor open bank accounts.
(ii) The slogan of the scheme is Mera Khata Bhagya Vidhaata
(iii) The scheme aims to open minimum 15 Crore Bank accounts by 15 Aug. 2015
(iv) Every person will be eligible to receive an accident insurance cover of up to Rs. 1 Lakh.
HDFC Ergo General Insurance will provide the accident cover under the scheme
(v) An additional Rs. 30,000 life insurance cover will be provided for those opening bank
accounts before January 26, 2015. Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) will provide the life
insurance cover
(vi) The scheme will provide Rs 5,000 overdraft facility for Aadhar linked accounts, and Ru
Pay Debit Card for all account holders
(vii) A minimum monthly remuneration of Rs 5,000 will be given to the business
correspondents who will provide the last link between account holders and the bank
Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY)
The scheme aims to impart skill training to youth with focus on first time entrants to the
labour market and class 10 and class 12 drop outs.

The scheme will be implemented by the Union Ministry of Skill Development and
Entrepreneurship through the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). It will cover
24 lakh persons and skill training would be based on the National Skill Qualification
Framework (NSQF) and industry led standards
Bhagyashree scheme
It is girl child scheme was launched in Maharashtra. Bollywood actress Bhagyashree is the
brand ambassador of the scheme.
Key points of the scheme:
(i) The state government will deposit an amount of 21200 rupees in bank for a girl child born
in a Below the Poverty Line (BPL) family.
(ii) The scheme aims at providing one 1 lakh rupees on maturity after the girl completes 18
years of age.
(iii) The scheme would be linked to the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme of Union
Government.
Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan (RAA)
Former President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam launched the Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan
(RAA) in New Delhi.
Key Points:
(i) The abhiyan aims to inculcate a spirit of inquiry, creativity and love for Science and
Mathematics in school children.
(ii) Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan is a concept developed by the Ministry of Human Resource
Development. RAA is an effort to take forward the Prime Minister Narendra Modis vision of
Digital India, Make in India and Teach in India.
Aapki Beti Humari Beti girl child scheme
The scheme launched by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in the state (Haryana).
Key points of the scheme:
(i) The scheme was launched with an aim to combat the problem of declining child sex ratio
in the state.
(ii) The scheme will be implemented in both rural and urban areas of the state.
(iii) Under this scheme, the first girl child born on or after January 22, 2015, in SC and BPL
families will be eligible to receive Rs 21,000.

(iv) Similarly, all second girl children born on or after January 22, 2015 of all families will also
get Rs 21,000.

(v) Families, where twin girls or multiple girls are born, will get Rs 21,000 per girl child.
New Urban Rejuvenation Mission to replace JNNRUM
According to the Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu, government will replace
Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, JNNRUM with a new Urban Rejuvenation
Mission to bring more areas for development under its ambit.
Key Points
(i) Under the proposed scheme, cities with population of 1 Lakh or above will also be
covered.
(ii) The new mission will focus on modern concept for cities planned using Geographic
information system (GIS), best transport facilities and will have solid and liquid waste
management system to develop clean cities. JNNRUM had already completed its term,
which was launched by previous UPA government.
