U.S. HEROES IN FRENCH TRAIN ATTACK: WE ACTED ON INSTINCT PAGE 1B

Baby born in car after

mom stuck in traffic
AMANDA OGLESBY @OGLESBYAPP
SEA BRIGHT Trevor Abbud and his pregnant wife,
Rose, were trapped in beach traffic when daughter Bella Rose was born inside their car along the side of Route
36.
After Roses water broke at 6:20 p.m. Saturday, the
Middletown couple was heading to the hospital when
her contractions became overpowering.
I have to push, 23-year-old Trevor Abbud recalled
his wife saying.
You cant push! he responded. Rose, calm down.

No, Im having the baby, she told him.

Thats when I called 911, he said.
Abbud pulled to the side of Route 36, blared his car
horn and called 911 as the first stages of the delivery
happened before him.
My wife was screaming, he said. I saw the top of
the baby. ... I thought she was dead.
Two women at the Sands Beach Club trauma nurse
Sarah Wood and Rumson First Aid Squad EMT Lauren
Kammerer heard the screams and ran over to help.

Amusements roots trace to Shore,

years before premiere at Worlds Fair
JERRY CARINO CARINOS CORNER

Of all the rides, the Ferris wheel is my kids favorite. Nothing else on the boardwalk comes close. e At ages 5 and 3,
they regard this summertime staple with giddy awe. They
might as well be going up to the moon. e A few weeks ago,
as they boarded one of the two Ferris wheels in Ocean City,
the questions popped into my head: How did this amusement come
about? Who invented it, and where? e Turns out, the Ferris wheel has a
fascinating back story. If you dig beyond the popularized version
that George Ferris created the modern wheel for the Chicago Worlds
Fair of 1893 its real roots trace to the Jersey Shore, a local carpenter
and a bitter lawsuit.

Buckle those chinstraps, high school football fans:

The Red Zone Road Show is coming to APP.com.
Join us each week as we break down one of the top
high school football games at the Jersey Shore with
coaches, players, journalists and our host and respected football analyst Chris Melvin in a fast-paced video
preview broadcast. Well give you everything in our
playbook on that weeks Game of the Week.
But were running up the score with even more.
When it comes to showing team spirit, no one does it
quite like the Shore Conference, so were taking our
show on the road and bringing it to the great fans,
cheerleaders and bands that are huddled up along the
Jersey Shore. Were inviting the home teams for each
of our Games of the Week to bring that raucous atmosphere to each taping.
The school featured in the video with the most views
during the voting periods will have a shot at a $1,000
prize courtesy of Asbury Park Press. Last fall, Jackson
Liberty earned the $1,000 through our School Spirit
Video contest.
Which Shore school will take the prize for this years
Red Zone Road Show contest? Follow along as the competitors cheer on their teams in their videos, and as
they share, post and retweet their way to victory.
High school football is a time-honored fall tradition
that brings out the best of our Shore sports fans, said
Hollis R. Towns, the Press executive editor and vice
president of news. We cant wait to capture that passion and excitement, and showcase it for our viewers
on a weekly basis. And at the same time, well provide
the most comprehensive kickoff to that weeks action.
It all starts in Week 1, when defending sectional
champion Jackson Memorial hosts its crosstown rival
Jackson Liberty on Friday, Sept. 11.
The Red Zone Road Show will air weekly, exclusively at APP.com, while our high school football preview
issue will hit newsstands Thursday, Sept. 3.
