Classic CR GUIDE

Turning on the system:


Switch on the PC and monitor.
Turn on the CR reader with the switch located on the left hand
side of the reader.
Allow 2 3 minutes for system to boot up.
System is now ready to use.
To switch off system:
From main menu screen

Press the quick menu and then choose the shutdown option.
The following screen will then appear.

Choose the shutdown/power Off option and then press the OK button.
The system will shutdown. Now switch off the reader using the switch on
the left hand side of the unit.

LOGGING ON:
When the user has switched on the system and it is fully powered up the
following screen will appear

There is NO need to enter a user name and password just choose the Tech
Log on button which is at the bottom of the screen this will than take you
to the main menu screen ready to start.

Step by step to obtain an image.


1. From the main menu screen

Select the new patient button (black arrow)


The following screen will now appear.

Now enter the owners name , Animal name and ID (the active field is shown as the
blue shaded area. To navigate between fields simply press on the required field.
Once all the data for the animal has been entered the operator needs to choose which
examination is being done.
Press on the procedure name to bring up the following screen.

The small animal categories are in Orange and the Large animal categories are in
Green.
From this screen press on the primary category required to bring up the following
screen.

Now the body parts within the primary category are available once again press on the
desired body part. This will then bring up the following screen.

This now puts into the patient field all of the required views for the particular body
part.
The yellow box is the active view, this does not need to be the first one taken
if you are taking another view in the series first simply touch on the required
view and this will become yellow and therefore the active view.
Not all views need to be utilised you may only use 2 of the 4 views shown
above this is fine the others can be left.
To add additional views to the procedure:

Tap on the add view button (red arrow)


This will allow you to add further views to the procedure.

Choose the plate that you require to perform the x-ray image and proceed to take the
image.

When you have the image on the plate choose the view that has been done and
make this the active yellow box as above.
Now scan the cassette barcode under the barcode scanner
This will put the cassette ID into the field for that view and yellow box will
move to the next view.
Now insert the cassette into the reader and allow the image to be processed.
Once the image has been processed it will appear as a thumbnail image in the
above screen.
To view the image touch on the thumbnail and the following screen will
appear.

Now using the viewing tabs on the right hand side you can perform various post
processing functions on the image before sending, including:

Altering the brightness and contrast


Image Zoom
Flip and rotate.
Annotating the image.

There are 4 different post processing pages which can be accessed using the tabs
shown above red arrows.
Once you are happy with the image simply press the Accept image shown by the
green arrow. This will then send the image directly to the workstation for further
viewing.

Performing more than one body part:


If the animal is having two areas examined e.g. chest and abdomen it is best to have
these entered as two different examinations.
From the screen below

Touch on the New study button (red arrow) this will then show the body part menu
and simply choose the required body part to be examined. The first body part will be
shown as a blue box on the right hand side with the new details appearing in the main
window as above. It is simple to navigate between the two examinations by simply
choosing it from the right hand side of the screen blue box as indicated by blue
arrow.

Find a patient already on the system:


It will be possible that the animal details may already be on the system as they have
been examined recently. To find the details of the animal:
From the main menu screen press the Study Data button which will bring up the
following field

From this screen we need to change the time window (red arrow) press on this field
and the following screen will appear

Now choose the unrestricted tab to change the time window. (red arrow)
Now press the find study locally tab (green arrow) this will bring up the following
screen.

You will now be able to choose your patient from the list by touching on it and then
proceeding without having to re-enter details for the new examination.

Trouble shooting:
The most common error is for operators to forget to ID the cassette using the barcode
reader and place the cassette directly into the reader. This results in an
UNASSIGNED IMAGE. The image has still been processed but has no patient details
attached.
If your image does not appear as expected but the plate has been processed check the
main menu screen

There will be a message tab at the bottom of the screen telling you there is an
Unassigned image (red arrow). Touch this tab and it will bring the following

From this screen touch the assign image tab (red arrow).
This will then take you to the image list as shown below.

Press find study locally to bring up the patient list below

Now choose the correct patient for the image and the following screen will appear

Now select the add view.

Choose the body part

Choose the body part and view

The examination will now be correctly assigned to the correct patient.
