0 Objective: Operation procedure for SHUT DOWN of 33kV INCOMER FEEDER-1(P-32)

2.0 Scope: MSDS-1 (E&I)
3.0 Responsibility: Shift In-charge, General Shift Engineer & Electrician of MSDS-1.
4.0 Procedure:
4.1 Prepare the Electrical Power Isolation Permit & get it signed by the

person(s) who have requested the Shutdown.

4.2 Bus coupler-1(P-26) should be ON before taking the shut down of incomer-

1(P-32) of that section to avoid any power interruption in connected

utilities (make before break).
4.3 Follow the applicable change over schemes Auto/Manual mode.
4.4 Once the BUS COUPLER-1(P-26) is ON, the INCOMER-1(P-32) will be

automatically TRIPPED (OFF) in Auto/Manual mode operation.

4.5 If the shut down of any bus section is required, OFF the incomer breaker

manually (through TNC).

4.6 Rack out the circuit breaker of incomer-1(P-32) and keep it out from the

from the feeder.

4.7 Switch OFF the MAIN DC MCB(MCB 22) of incomer-1(P-32).
4.8 SWITCH OFF the circuit breaker of 220kV Bay 1 ( i.e 2-1-52) and put

OFF the DC of respective breaker.

4.9 Open the L-ISOLATOR of 220kV Bay-1(i.e. 2-1-89L) and put OFF the DC

of respective isolator.

4.10 Close the Earth switch.(i.e. 2-1-89LE2) of 220 kV side.

4.11 Rack in the CET(cable earthing trolley) inside the incomer-1(P-32) and
Put the pad lock on
control cubicle of incomer-1(P-32) and Rack in-rack out knob.
4.12 Declare the incomer-1(P-32) at under SHUT DOWN & affix the Shut
down permit and
maintain the record in Log book.

5.0 Safety:
5.1 PPE (As appropriate): Electrical Safety Shoes, Rubber Hand Gloves,

Helmets, Discharge Rod, multi-metre, Danger Board, Tag, and LOTO.

5.2 Personal hazards:
5.2.1 Electrical shock (230 V AC, 110 V AC, 220 V DC, 110V DC).
5.2.2 Fire.
5.2.3 Mechanical failures.

3.0 Responsibility: Shift In-charge, General Shift Engineer & Electrician of MSDS1.
4.0 Procedure:
4.1 Ensure the SHUT DOWN RETURN from concerned Department & signed
the shut down
return form .
4.2 Remove the pad lock from the control Incomer feeder-1(P-32) & rack in-

rack out knob.

Remove the SHUT DOWN permit.

4.3 Rack out the cable earthing trolley(CET) and put the circuit breaker in
test position. SWITCH ON the DC MCB (MCB 22) of circuit breaker control
circuit of Incomer feeder-1(P-32).
4.4 Open the Earth switch(i.e.2-1-89LE2) of 220kV side.

Declare the DRI feeder (20/30) under CHARGED CONDITION.

5.0 Safety:
