FOREWORD
According to their functional particularity, the functional specifications (CdCF) make it possible for the
manufacturer to identify an optimum technical and financial solution for the product in question (as
defined by Standard 00-10-415) favoring innovation within the scope of action remaining free after the
supervisor has given orders. In addition it facilitates communication between the partners.
The CdCF is part of the BCD strategy procedure described in Standard 00-10-010 cahier des
charges systmes et organes Gnration dconomie avec la logique BCD (Specifications for
systems and units Cost saving through BCD strategy)
1.

SCOPE
The purpose of these functional specifications is to furnish, for each life cycle phase, an exhaustive list
of the functions to be guaranteed by the storage hatch located in the floor (including, among others, a
hatch, an opening control and a hatch support mounted in the foot well and, possibly, a switch) and to
define, for each function, the requirements levels expected by Renault.
Consequently, this does not concern storage wells.
In order to be valid, these specifications must be accompanied by Specifications 32-00-008 "Interior
Trim Parts - General Requirements".
The criteria subject to safety and/or regulations requirements are indicated on the product functional
drawing in accordance with the requirements of Standard 00-10-040 "Marking of S/R Products and
Safety and/or Regulations Characteristics".
As regards value-specific criteria, the values to be taken into account are those indicated in the
following documents:

2.1.

SUPPLIER RESPONSIBILITY

The provisions of Standard 00-10-415 "Manufacture and supply of products - General

requirements", are wholly applicable to the production and supply of storage hatches unless
written indications are given to the contrary in these specifications or on the functional
drawing.
2.2.

PRODUCT MANUFACTURING

Refer to Specifications 32-00-008 "Interior trim parts - General instructions" for further details.
The parts are made, in particular, from a functional drawing drawn up according to the provisions of
Standard 00-10-403 Functional drawings General rules for drafting and usage by the Renault
Engineering Centre and/or according to the Suppliers drawings which are based on this and validated
by the Renault Engineering Centre.

CHARACTERIZATION OF THE FUNCTIONS BEING USED

The purpose of characterizing the components that make up the external use environment is to define for the Design Engineer/Manufacturer all useful data
concerning the components with which the product interacts (during use). Among others, the following data are given: the geometry, material, location within
the vehicle reference drawings, etc.
The value criteria are presented in the form of tables.
Resp

Criteria

Support

Level or target

Contract requirement

The
first

column, Resp , specifies who is responsible for the criterion (Renault SA or Supplier).
The second column, Criteria, represents the criteria which allow the characterization of the function, the external environment or the description.
The third column, Support, presents the inspection and measurement facilities defining measurement practical modalities for assessing the expected
results.
The fourth column, Level or target, presents the characterization of the expected level or target:
-

Taken from the functional requirement specifications and negotiated between the different entities, product, DIV and Purchasing functional departments
and project groups

Set by the functional department (listed by function).

As regards the supplier RFQ, each GFE completes the fourth column in the RFQ specifications with the values specific to the project in question.
The fifth column, contract requirement, indicates the contractual level required by the project team and the supplier; this level is applicable throughout the
project. This may be a functional objective only or an objective for which a technical solution has been developed.
In the sixth column, F stands for "flexibility" category (recommended category according to European Standard EN 1325-1). A letter is located near the
assessment criterion that allows specification of negotiation or mandatory level, i.e.:
FO = Zero flexibility, essential

F 2 = Fair flexibility, negotiable

F 1 = Limited flexibility, only slightly negotiable

F 3 = Good flexibility, very negotiable

The seventh column, D represents the lead-time, i.e. the latest documented date of the assessment criterion level.
P = Pre-contract

Defining reliability tests

It is the responsibility of the Supplier to perform all tests defined in the following tables and to present
the results within the framework of the ANPQP.
These test results represent the minimum required by the Renault Engineering Office in order to
evaluate the capability of the Supplier to meet the reliability objectives defined in paragraph 5.2.1
The test profiles are consistent with current knowledge of customer use of vehicles on different
markets.
Any change to the test characteristics, other than an increase in the number of parts to be validated,
must be subject to Renault approval.

6.1.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Potential product malfunctions are to be dealt with via an Operating Safety procedure in order to
guarantee meeting Renault reliability, availability and safety requirements.
This procedure must be adapted to comply with the special features of the product to be developed.
This explains why the Supplier must take into account these requirements according to the procedure
presented in the following paragraph.
6.2.

WORK PROGRAMME

6.2.1.

Step 0: Appropriation

The Supplier makes use of the documents created by Renault (specifications, etc.).
It uses the functional analysis, creates the block diagrams and the packaging diagram which are prerequisites for risk clearance.
6.2.2.

Step 1: System studies

From the start of the contract, the supplier contributes to the system studies by participating in the
working group (GFE) formed by Renault.
This work includes: the establishment and updating of undesirable events, the definition of the tools
(AMDEC (FMECA), failure trees or others) to be used to highlight the risks associated with each of the
undesirable events and the deployment of these tools at system level.
These documents may be consulted at the Suppliers by the Renault GFE during the contract phase
and then updated.
The undesirable events identified and dealt with (failure tree and/or FMECA) are to be listed.
This list of undesirable events may be completed over the course of the Dependability study. In
particular, the list is made up of undesirable events from the Provisional Risk Analysis.

RENAULT 2005

Page 36/50

RENAULT

6.2.3.

32 - 07 - 021 / - - -

Step 2: Supplier studies

The supplier performs specific tests on its products, in conjunction with the tests performed with
Renault. In the case of products and/or process innovations:
-

Technical functional analysis (AFT)

Creation of or breakdown into failure trees

Qualitative and quantitative processing (probability of the appearance of undesirable events) of

these failure trees

Provisional Risk Analysis (APR)

FMECA components (product/process) where the solutions are innovative and/or for which risks
have been identified

Provisional reliability studies on the system

Any action judged appropriate by the Supplier

This step, which is entirely the Suppliers responsibility, may, at his or Renaults request, include
specific "Operating Safety" progress meetings and/or be the subject of a particular item on the agenda
at project-progress meetings.
Renault reserves the option to verify the content of the analyses and their relevance. The Supplier
must make available to Renault the analyses required to demonstrate quality assurance.
6.2.4.

Step 3: Action plan

The Supplier and/or Renault create(s) the action plan. Monitoring takes place during the projectprogress meetings. The meetings must take place at least once a month. The headings presented in
this document will be the following, as a minimum:
Problem identification

6.3.

The hatch separates the storage compartment environment from the cabin environment (thermal
insulation)
The hatch isolates the objects stored in the storage compartment (hidden space)
The hatch separates the cabin environment from the external environment (driving noise
dampening)
The hatch retains the objects stored in the storage compartment (braking, bend, bump, etc.)
The hatch informs the user that the storage compartment is not closed (visual feedback?)
The hatch prevents users from accessing the storage compartment through the hatch (locking)
This criterion is not taken into account since the drivers position would be less comfortable.
The hatch must be resistant to and not harm the user (noise, appearance, touch, odour)
The hatch must be resistant to and not harm an animal
The hatch must be resistant to and not damage the objects placed on it (loads)
The hatch must be resistant and not damage the objects stored
The hatch (outline) must remain fixed in the storage compartment
The hatch must be resistant to and not damage the technical surroundings (incl. seat and drawer
operations, soundproofing material, wiring, etc.)
The hatch must comply with regulations and standards
The hatch must resist the cabin environment
The hatch must resist the storage compartment environment
The hatch must resist the cleaning products and facility
The hatch must have the same appearance as that of the floor carpet
The hatch must cover the floor carpet (clearance and standard cross-section)

The hatch (moving part) must remain coupled with the support ( trunk)
The hatch must retain the floor carpet (optional, refer to the comment below)
NOTE:

The presence of a floor hatch leads to additional constraints for floor carpets. Foam not too
thick (maximum thickness?); if not, the difference in carrying capacity between the hatch
and the carpet is too significant.
