Slowcats: A field manual

The following guide will outline the requirements and provide basic knowledge of flying in a
slowcat fleet.
Our slowcats are fitted in the following way:

Every empty slot is a slot that can change through refitting and a requirement for SRP is that a slow
cat has every refit in their carrier and fit as specified above. The list of modules on top of the above
are such:

4x Active hardeners of each damage type

A spare Damage Control

2x Reactive Armor Hardeners

A set of passive armor hardeners

2x spare EANMs

4x Drone Damage Amplifier

7x Capacitor Power Relays

4x Capacitor Rechargers

4x Large Capacitor Batteries

2x Capital Remote Armor Repairers

2x Drone Link Augmentors

2x Smartbombs

1x Cyno

A cloak

2x Heavy Energy Neutralizers

2x Warp Disruptors

2x Warp Scramblers

2x Stasis Webifiers

2x Target Painters

2x Omnidirectional Tracking Links

2x Sensor Boosters

3x Remote Sensor Boosters

2x Local ECCM

2x Remote ECCM

A 500mn MWD

7x Inertia Stabilizers

7x Warp Core Stabilizers

2x Drone Navigation Computers

A set of fighters

Sets of every drone with multiple spare waves

A slow cat pilot must have, at minimum, level 4 capital remote armor repairer and capital capacitor
transfer skills. They must also always carry strong mindflood.

The cap chain and you

The image above is an example of a watch list that's been set up to make establishing the cap chain
as easy and pain free as possible. In this example, letelio is not in a slow cat and the cap chain is
1up 1down.
Letelio is placed into the watchlist as a marker for where I am in the cap chain. I then add the
people in the cap chain above and below me as they appear in the cap-chain channel.
In this example, my cap buddies are Ashwind and Grease; however if Grease was somehow unable
to make the jump, was destroyed, disconnected or any other manner of things... the watchlist would
make it very obvious who I would have to cap instead (Kerberous2) and if this person has setup the
watchlist in the same manner as me, then he/she should see the same thing. There is no excuse for
not establishing the cap chain bar you being the only slow cat on the field.
When jumping to a cyno in a slow cat, the following steps should always be followed when landing:

Break your invulnerability

Attemp to lock-on to your cap buddies until they break invulnerability

Establish the cap chain

Approach a common point like a specific person on grid to bring all the carriers into refit
range

I've said it once already but I'll say it again for clarity's sake. There is no excuse for not establishing
a cap chain. It is the first thing you should do when landing on field.

Refits and you

What fit you should be using depends on the situation. The majority of times this should be fairly
straight forward. If you're hot dropping a small fleet, then you'll most likely be loaded up with drone
damage amps, 2x sensor boosters and 2x warp disruptors.
However, if you're jumping into an enemy capital fleet, you should be full-tank fit as the possibility
of bumping out of refit range is high. The majority of times the FC will call for what fit should be
used, but you should be able to read a situation well enough that you can adequately prepare your
carrier for the situation ahead.

The triple rep setup

Sometimes a situation will call for full reps on a friendly carrier. It is theoretically possible for a
fleet of slowcats to tank an equal number of dreadnoughts so long as the slowcat gang is good at
refitting.
Our slowcats can be made cap stable through use of capacitor power relays, rechargers and
mindflood. The one thing that you absolute do not do in a slow cat is let your capacitor fall
below 30% unless the enemy is neuting you so hard that you can't prevent it. It is up to YOU to
find out how you need to fit your ship to achieve cap stability. For people who don't have max
archon skills, faction rechargers or power relays, then you will need to fit full power relays and
chargers with mindflood to achieve cap stability.

Sending capacitor
The cap chain on a slow cat fleet should never be broken. If it is imperative for you to send
capacitor to a friendly, then the fleet should switch to a 1 down cap chain and use their up transfer
to send capacitor. This requires max skills in order to be cap stable without refits. and you should
never send so much capacitor that you will no longer be able to re-establish a cap chain. You must
use your own judgement and fit accordingly.

All slow cat pilots should familiarise themselves with the many possible refits available to them and
practise, if possible, doing so. There are many ways to make refitting more efficient:

Having a UI layout where you can view your navball, cargo and fitting window at the same
time

Sorting your fits into cans in your cargohold

Storing your high slot modules in your fleet hangar as they will be swapped with repairers
that need to be placed in the fleet hangar anyway

I hope this has been a somewhat insightful guide to you, but it is basic knowledge that all slowcat
pilots should have.
