The proposal of this study was intensified by the laws such as Philippine cultural

heritage law which aims to provide for the protection and preservation of the Philippine
cultural heritage. This began as an interface program within the sub commission for
cultural heritage (SCH) in 1994. This was initiated by the commissioner for SCH, Felice
Pprudent Sta. Maria as an advocacy mandate of the national commission for culture
and arts (NCCA).
The bill was further deliberated on by NCCA members of the 22 national committees
[representation both the public and private sectors.] and the affiliate government
agencies, like the national museum, cultural center of the Philippines, national historical
institute , records managements and achieves office and the intramuros administration
of department of tourism.

Bulusan as the site of the project was one of the developing municipality of Sorsogon,it
is a 4th class municipality in the province of sorsogon. It is also bordered by the towns of
Barcelona in the north and going counterclockwise, the towns of Casiguran, Juban,
Irosin and Santa Magdalena. And lies along the border of the Pacific Ocean which
offers great opportunity for fishermen, resort owners and was surrounded with
mountainous terrains and hilly contours which gives livelihood to the farmers who
cultivates coconut, Pili trees, Abaca trees and other agricultural resources. It was also
the home of Mount Bulusan, one of the 24 active volcanoes in the Philippines which
became an attraction that lures mountain trekkers or hikers and at the same time a
constant threat to the neighboring places. Aside from these, it was also blessed with
natural sources of fresh and potable waters and natural springs and lakes that adds to
the income of the municipality.

1.4 PROJECT GOAL AND OBJECTIVES

To design a bulusan cultural heritage complex that provide the municipality of
bulusan with its own land mark with a formal park and gardens and a heritage
center for educational purposes. This study also provide a venue for training of the
athletes especially the resident of Bulusan.
OBJECTIVES:

To promote low impacts on the environment, and high impact on the

community.

To promote safety efficient sport center.

To establish sustainable cultural and heritage complex.
To apply green architecture in building design.

1.6 JUSTIFICATION OF STUDY

Progress within the community can sometimes be caused by how they can go with
the trend of the modern times in terms of infrastructures, not necessarily with high-rise
buildings, billion cost structures, and out of this world building designs. But the production of
a new and more functional one will surely matters.
The municipality of bulusan is blessed with natural wonders, local handicraft and
people who are sports enthusiast. Proposing a bulusan cultura heritage complex is one way
to level up the tourism industry in bulusan. By providing ah heritage center the structure will
present the historical artifacts that is found on bulusan and also there will be the display of
natural sceneries that the municipality of bulusan have.
