SHIPMENT & TRANSPORTATION

Item Categroy determination in Delivery document

Additional usages are set internally

for some functions, such as:
. PACK for generating packing items
. CHSP for a batch split
. PSEL for product selection
. V for inbound deliveries for purchase orders

Shipping condition means that if the delivery has to be sent urgently or normal etc.
Loading grp means by which equipment the material is to be loaded like crane,Jetty, forklift.

Delivering plant from here the material will be picked.

Scheduling in delivery document

Activate scheduling for sales document type

Scheduling in Sales order .

1.

Requested delivery date in sales order is suggested by the system If set so in sales order
document type in the field lead time .In this case lead time is 7 days .

In scheduling the good issue date is dependent on the Saturday and Sunday because if the delivery
date falls on Saturday or Sunday then the goods are issued on Thursday itself considering that the

Saturday and Sunday is holiday so it considers the Friday as the delivery date and issue goods on
Thursday if the transit time is 1 day which comes from route

Starting from the requested delivery date, the system calculates the four
planned
dates by
a) subtracting the time limits adopted from the shipping point and the
route. The transit time is subtracted from the requested delivery date in order to
determine the goods issue date.
b) The goods issue date minus the loading time
gives us the loading date.
c) The pick/pack time and transportation lead time are
subtracted from the loading date to calculate the material availability date
d) and the
transportation planning date (backwards scheduling).
Note: The latest creation date for the outbound delivery date is either the
material availability date or the transportation planning date, depending
which date is earlier.
When you create the outbound delivery, these dates are copied

Shipment document is a subsequent document to Inbound delivery/ outbound delivery and stock
transfer.
It is used for the transportation planning of goods from plant to customer/vendor to plant.
Shipment and transportation relevance for Inbound/Outbound document.
1.

Delivery document must be marked for transportation relevance in config.

2.

Delivery item category must be marked for the transportation relevance in config.

3.

Route of delivery: Outbound delivery document must carry a route for the shipment
document to be generated

The shipment document provides the following functions:

. Combines inbound deliveries to form inbound shipments
. Combines outbound deliveries to form outbound shipments
. Assigns service agents, modes of transport, and shipment types

SHIPMENT TYPE: Various transportation scenario like from one plant to multiple customer. From 1
vendor to several plants can be represented by shipment type
Shipping type: for example, truck, train, or mail.
Shipment type settings include:
. The leg determination type, for example, automatic leg determination.
. The completion type, for example, loaded outbound shipment, and
inbound shipment.
. The processing control, for example, collective shipment using one
mode of transport.
. The service level, for example, general cargo and grouped load.
. The shipping type, for example, truck, train, or mail.
. The leg indicator, for example, preliminary leg, subsequent leg, or
direct leg.
. Copying data from preceding documents, for example, forwarding
agent and route, if unique.
. Output, text, and partner determination procedures.
. Default values for the shipment document, for example, weight and
volume unit and planning profile.
. Settings that automatically generate items in a delivery document for
handling units created within a shipment.

Types of Shipment:
a) Individual Shipment: In this one or more inbound/outbound delivery are involved but there
is only one departure and one destination point.
b) Collective Shipment: In this one or more inbound/outbound delivery are involved but there
can be more than one departure and destination point.
Important control parameters in Customizing include:
. Completion type: 1 = Loaded outbound shipment
. Processing control: 3 = Collective shipment using one mode of
transport
. Leg indicator: 4 = Direct leg

Transportation chain
When more then one legs are involved then it leads to transportation chain.
Shipment Creation-Criteria.
OBD /IBD having same shipping condition.

. Destination: Indicated by ship-to party, location, zip code, country,

and plant
. Point of departure: Indicated by shipping point, warehouse number,
dock door, and vendor
. Due date: Indicated by transportation planning date, delivery date,
loading date, and delivery priority
. Transportation planning: Indicated by route, Incoterms, shipping
type, and forwarding agent
. Other information relevant for transportation from the order or
delivery: Means of transport, means of transport category, and
handling units.

Transportation info in Sales order

. Means of transport: Indicates the specific vehicle type with which

the goods are to be transported, such as 20t truck or bulk container.
Material master records with a Material Type of Packaging Material are
maintained for the means of transport.
. Means of transport type: Indicates the category of the vehicle /
means of transport, such as truck, container, or ship. The means of
transport type groups the means of transport at a high level. The
Means of transport type is defined in the Define Material Group for
Packaging Materials table in customizing.
. Shipping type: You can use this to define the characteristics of the
mode of transport, such as road, rail, or sea.
. Special processing indicator: Indicates whether there are any special
requirements to be met, such as express delivery.

ROUTE DETERMINATION

The following
criteria are considered while determining the route:
. The departure zone of the shipping point or the definition of the
shipping point
. The shipping condition of the customer from the customer master
of the sold-to party
. The transportation group of the material from the material master
. The transportation zone from the ship to party

The route can be redetermined in the outbound delivery. In addition

to the above criteria, the weight group of the delivery is considered to
determine the route.
If you are working with routes in the shipment (optional), you can enter a
different route here. This route must not be identical to one of the routes
in the deliveries.
You can also adopt the route from the deliveries into the shipment
document if the route is the same for all deliveries. When status is set as
Planned in the shipment document, the route and other information is
copied.
To adopt the route, you must define an appropriate copy routine for the
shipment type (in the standard system: routine 2, 7, 11, or 12). The system
does not automatically determine the route in inbound deliveries. You
can enter the route manually in the header of the inbound delivery. You

can copy the route to the shipment document in the same way as for
outbound deliveries.
Stages

The system differentiates between the following stage types:

. Leg: Connection between a starting point and an end point; the
starting and end points can be a transportation connection point, a
shipping point, or an unloading point at the customer.s or vendor.s
site.
. Load transfer point: Location or point where a shipment is
loaded/unloaded or transferred from one means of transport to
another.
. Border crossing point: Location or point where a shipment crosses
the border.
For each stage, you can record information, such as the service agent,
deadlines, distance, shipment cost relevance, and freight code.
You can also assign the deliveries to the individual stages.
