RelayFax Network Fax Manager | How To Quick Start Guide

Install and Configure RelayFax

Welcome to RelayFax Network Fax Manager. This guide is designed to help
you quickly install and start using your RelayFax.

Before You Begin

Note: Be sure to install RelayFax directly on the server (and not through
RDP or other remote means) to ensure that the printer drivers install
properly.
Note: Before installing the RelayFax server software, you need to install the Windows Fax Service (also known as Windows Fax
and Scan) on your server. This may require the Windows CD or other installation source.
The RelayFax installation program will ask you a number of questions during the installation process that are required to
configure your server. While it is possible to enter this information after installation, you can save time and end your installation
with a fully configured server by knowing the answers to these questions before you begin. You will need to know:

1. The drive and directory in which you wish to install RelayFax (the default is C:\Program Files\RelayFax)
2. The registered users name and company
3. The email address that RelayFax will monitor for outbound faxes (this should be a dedicated email address)
4. The default email address that RelayFax will send all incoming faxes to (this needs to be a different address than the one
RelayFax will monitor for outbound faxes)

5. Which components to install:

The Server Application and Support Files (required)
The RelayFax SMTP / Fax Client (required)
The Printer Drivers (recomended)
The OCR Engine (recomended)

For The Server Installation, You Need To Know:

1. Your Company name (Example: Alt-N Technologies)
2. The Identification String that you wish to assign to your fax device (this is usually the same as your company name) - in
some areas of the world, this string is required by law

3. Your fax and voice numbers

4. The domain name or IP address of your mail server (If you are running an internal mail server like MDaemon, you can use
the Internal IP address of that machine. This could also be your ISPs mail server)

5. The logon and password for the RelayFax account on your mail server or at your ISP

For The Client Installation, You Need To Know:

1. The domain name or IP address of your mail server or the ISPs mail server
2. Your email address
3. The email address of the RelayFax mail account

as your CSID. When two fax devices are negotiating a connection, they make
this information available to each other. [Figure 2-2]

lets users keep a single list of contacts that can be shared by
multiple programs. It is most commonly used by Outlook Express. In
Windows Vista, Windows Address Book was replaced with Windows
Contacts.

Address Express (Address Ex) - included with RelayFax, it can be

used to manage all of your contacts, and supports storing a large
amount of information for each one. You can add up to 50 fields for
each contact, assign contacts to groups, add notes for them, sort by
any field, launch your web browser, phone dialer, or email program,
