TITLE:
A PRACTICAL METHOD OF LEARNING A LANGUAGE AS A NATIVE

INTRODUCTION:
The following essay called: A PRACTICAL METHOD OF LEARNING A
LANGUAGE AS A NATIVE is a method where teachers and students are going to
find a new method of learning a language; they are not going to learn anything but
a practical, dynamic and vivential way of getting a language as natives do.
As they do not use the native language, they have to do different activities to
explain something, so this method helps teachers to use those activities instead of
teaching with the source language.
This method is not totally new; some methods are used as Task-Based Language
Teaching, The Oral Approach and Situational Language Teaching and The AudioLingual Method, but not everything comes from these methods, the positive
aspects and the negative ones are covered, so if educators identify it is not working
in their class they can use other ways that this method present.
The principal characteristics of this new way of learning are the use of strategies
that educators use to teach students in different levels; that means that teachers
start from beginner to advance levels
To put this method into practice, the teacher is going to perform a class where you
can find all of the strategies that are presented by this method.

Development Body:
In A PRACTICAL METHOD OF LEARNING A LANGUAGE AS A NATIVE
teachers are going to prepare their classes considering the 3 tasks (Pre-task,
main-task and post-task)
If this method is used for low level children or beginner students the teacher is
going to use the following instructions:
Before starting a class, the teacher is going to play songs, so students are going to
be familiar with the instructions they are going to see during classes. With children,
songs about the subject as the numbers, familiar, colors could be easily found on
internet so teachers should find songs that relate subjects they are going to teach
in the unit(s). If you have adult beginner students, children songs are not going to
help in your class, but they could play a song as a karaoke with the current subject
so students are not going to memorize the song but the vocabulary.
In the Pre-task, educators could explain the rules in English and they could write
on the board some phrases students must write down because they are going to
be used in classes, phrases could be: How Can I say.in English?, I dont
understand , Could you repeat that , please? and suchlike. If this is not the first
day, a review about the subjects they have already done is going to be perfect
especially in the time exams are coming. Students do different activities at home
and it is going to be complicated that they study by themselves in their houses,
some of them do their homework but you have to know that nowadays, they are
lazy.
In the Main-task, teachers are going to present the subject and the activities they
have prepared, as this method is focuses on the 4 skills, students are going to
practice listening, speaking, reading and writing in that order, at the beginning of
the class a video or a listening could help students to guess what the class is
about; later, they can explain their points of view and finally guess the subject.

In Reading and Writing students could read some dialogs and with their own words
make conversations in pairs or groups; later they could listen and read at the same
time a reading and finally they could create a conversation and practice.
In the Post-task, students could practice what they learn with games, paintings,
decorations or karaokes.
In this method, teachers are going to use the target language only, so that means
that they need to be energetic and dynamic because of the use of different
activities that they have to do in the different levels.
If your students are high level children or adults the teacher is going to use the
following instructions:
Before starting a class, the teacher is going to play some fun videos about the
theme they are going to see and songs, either videos or songs are going to
prepare students to be familiar with the activities during the class. The videos are
going to be without subtitles and with subtitles for another activity.
In the Pre-task, educators could explain the rules in English as they do with low
level children, writing on the board some phrases students must write down
because they are going to be used in classes. Doing a review about the subjects
they have already done is going to be perfect in these levels so they are going to
know what they did in previous classes. Making competitions are going to help you
know if students paid attention to you
In the Main-task, teachers are going to do the activities and material they have
prepared, as if you are teaching either children or adults, this method is focuses on
the 4 skills students are going to practice listening, speaking, reading and writing in
that order
Listening, they are going to watch the video once again and they are going to write
what they understood, in the second time the educator is going to play the video
again but with subtitles

Speaking, students are going to give their opinions and discuss about the subject.
Reading, they are going to read together the text and the teacher is going to
correct their mistakes and do it.
Writing, at the end of the class, students are going to write something about the
topic, they can make a composition, a letter and special document and suchlike.
In the Post-task, students could write in big sheets and explain what they wrote in
front of the class. The point is students participating in class with their own words
or ideas.
