1.a) Define multiplexing. Explain with a block diagram the process of FDM.
b) A modulating signal is given by m(t) = 2 sin 2π104t is used to amplitude modulate a
carrier given by c(t) = 10 sin 2π106t.
i) Write the expression for the modulated wave.
ii) Draw the two sided spectrum of the modulated wave. [8+8]

produces DSB-SC wave.
b) What is the effect of frequency and phase error in demodulation of DSB-SC wave
using synchronous detector. [8+8]
3.a) Explain with block diagram, the phase shift method of generating SSB modulated
waves.

4.a) Derive the equation for wideband FM wave and hence draw its spectrum.
b) The equation of an angle-modulated voltage v (t) = 10 sin (108 + 3sin 104t). What
form of angle modulation is this? Calculate the carrier and modulating frequencies,
the modulation index and deviation and power dissipated in a 100 ohm resistor.
[8+8]
7.a) What is tracking error? Explain two point and three point tracking methods.
