About Asha Bhavan Centre


Asha Bhavan Centre is an NGO for persons with disability in
India. We work for the growth, development and welfare of
children and persons with disabilities. We put our best efforts
to take care of them by providing them with residential care,
nutritional support, special educational support, medical
services, therapeutic support, vocational training and many more
things so that they can lead a better life in future. We have also
been awarded as an outstanding institution in 2007 by the
Department of Woman and Child Development & Social
Welfare, Government of West Bengal for our dedicated
service rendered for the cause of disabilities.

What We Do?
Dominique Lapierre Home for Children with Disabilities
Asha Bhavan Centre offers a
residential care and cure centre for
300 children with disabilities. We also
provide

therapeutic

support,

nutritional support, activity of daily


living training, integrated and special
educational support, orthopedic aids,
medical services, vocational training,
co-curricular activities and recreational support to these children
with disabilities so that they can lead a better life in future.

Dominique Lapierre Home for Mentally Ill Women


We offer a residential care
and

cure centre for 60

mentally ill women. We even


provide these people with
cure support, counselling &
vocational training.

Community Based Rehabilitation Division


The

concept

of

Community

Based Rehabilitation initiated 16


years before in Asha Bhavan
Centre with an aim to improving
the socio-economic conditions of
the persons with disabilities in India and ensuring Human Rights
to them. Our main aim has always been to promote opportunities,
protect the human rights of the persons with disabilities and give
respect to their talents.

Education and Training Division


Asha

Bhavan

Centre

provides rural education &


vocational

support

to

underprivileged children and


persons with disabilities from
marginalised community in the
country. We give opportunity to these children and persons with
disabilities to hone and nurture their skills so that they can sustain
themselves & become self-reliant in the future days. The various
education & training programmes, which are undertaken by us
include a vocational training centre for the persons with
disabilities, a chain of schools known as BVM, a supplementary
education programme, DL special education and a human
resource development programme.

that contain high protein, vitamin and fat.
Dominique Lapierre Community Health Department
The community health centre
functions to provide medical
treatment to the poorest of
poor people of rural Bengal
and children and people with
disabilities from marginalised community. Free consultation with
specialised doctors and General Physicians is also provided.
The unit functions in Kathila HQ premises and Keoradanga,
Amtala premises.

Dominique Lapierre Orthopedic Workshop


Asha Bhavan Centre had
set

up

an

orthopedic

workshop

in

2005

for

manufacturing and providing


mobility aids & appliances to
the people with disabilities for improving their lives.

Emergency Relief & Rehabilitation


We provide immediate relief and
rehabilitation to disabled children
and people who have been
affected by the natural disaster.
After all the food, water, tents,
clothes and other things are
delivered to these people with
disabilities, our recovery programmes are planned to assist them
so that they can lead a better life in future.

Future Plans Of Asha Bhavan Centre For


Persons With Disabilities
Asha Bhavan Centre has plans of consolidating its activities as well as support services for
persons with disabilities in India. For achieving this, we have a few plans, implementation of
which will make the lives of persons with disabilities a lot more easier and help them lead a life
with self-respect and dignity.
Introduce a Post Graduate Diploma in Special Education, recognized by
Rehabilitation Council of India, GoI.
An establishment of orthopedic clinic where corrective surgery will be done for
improving the skills of person with disabilities
Introduce Community Based Rehabilitation services in different states of India to
serve the unfortunate persons with disabilities
Initiation of Community Based Rehabilitation services to the districts of West Bengal
where it has still not reached
Human Resource Development on assistive devices and mobility aids production
Corpus fund generation for sustainability of Dominique Lapierre Centre of
Excellence for the disabled people.
Model resource centre for persons with disabilities
Establishment of Integrated Child Protection Scheme with Government of India for
rehabilitation services of children with special need
Hostel for college level women with disabilities
Computer Training Centre for the persons with disabilities
Independent community living centre for the persons with disabilities and their families
Holiday home for persons with disabilities
Empowering NGOs and CBOs of different districts for serving the persons with
disabilities.
School Intervention Program on disability issue
Construction of boys residential home for children with disabilities
Computer lab. for the BVM (DLEP) students

Where We Are?

Children and persons with disabilities are growing by leaps and bounds in India. Asha
Bhavan Centre is putting their best efforts to take care of them by providing them with
residential care and support. But for all these things to happen smoothly, a huge amount of
money is needed. To ensure that we don't have to divert our funds from other essential
programs, we rely on support from donors like you so that we can act responsibly towards
these unfortunate group of people.
