Discussion.

Recall

Before I started the lesson, I told them I will picks the one who raise up hand without makes any
noise. As they seemed understood with the new routine that I have set, I stared the class with
question and answer session to see whether they really understand my instruction or not. As I
gave the first question, some still make noise to attract my attention. Then, I noticed the other
classmate sitting next to them told them to keep quiet. Next, I tried to make a groupwork. As I
picked a group leader, some felt dissatisfied with my decision as they also wanted to be the
leader. It is very difficult for me to ensure all of them give cooperation with the group members.
Other than that, during the group activity, there was one crying girl came to me and told that her
friends isolated her from the team.

Feeling

It was my experience to be in a situation where I have to stop pupil from crying. I do not know
how to react towards the situation. Therefore, I was startled and blank for a while. I never
expected to be in this kind of situation.

Evaluation

From this situation, it helps me to realize that doing activities in group for children is different
from adults. If I compared with the groupwork in college, the lecturer just gives the title or name
the task. However, for year 1 pupils, they need to be given a brief instruction. Plus, teacher need
to explain what is their role in the group. I believe that groupwork is an interesting activity, yet,
the negative sides during the activity are not all pupils give full participation and pupils do not
cooperate well with the group members.

Analysis

From my observation, groupwork is a good activity for children since they can communicate and
learn with peers. However, it requires strategies to control the whole pupils in class.

Conclusion

As I looked back, I noticed that pupils seemed confused when it comes to group activity. I think
it is vital for me to give them a clear instruction as well as briefly explain what their role in the
group is. I believe that they will give full cooperation if they know what to do to complete the
task.

Action Plan

For the next lesson, I must ensure that all pupils understand what they need to do in groupwork. I
should emphasize their role and responsibility working as a team. In addition, I will try my best
to be a sensitive teacher where I could monitor all pupils in one time. Thus, it is easier for me to
control the classroom.
