In 2014, Poland
exported 5.6 million units of mattresses totaling 681 million USD, 10% over the
previous year. Its primary trading partner was Germany, where it supplied
31% of its total mattress exports in value terms, accounting for 56% of
Germanys total imports.
From 2007 to 2014, Poland was a net exporter of mattresses. Over this period,
exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. In physical terms,
exports and imports were at the same level.
China and Denmark were among the other main global suppliers of mattresses
in 2014. The fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were China (+13%
per year) and Poland (+12% per year). China, by virtue of this sustained
growth, was able to strengthen its position in the global export structure.
Polands top 5 trading partners in 2014 were Germany, Sweden, France, the
Netherlands and Italy, with a combined 60% share of Polands mattress
exports. The share of Germany increased significantly (+9 percentage points),
while the share of Sweden dropped sharply (-10 percentage points).
