Introduction
Meaning Open-source software (OSS
Computer software with its source code made available with a license in which the
copyright holder provides the rights to study, change, and distribute the software to
anyone and for any purpose.[1]Open-source software may be developed in
a collaborative public manner. Open-source software is the most prominent example
of open-source development and often compared to (technically defined) user-generated
content or (legally defined) open-content movements. The open-source model, or
collaborative competition development from multiple independent sources, generates an
increasingly diverse scope of design perspective than one company development alone
can sustain long term. And a report by the Standish Group (from 2008) states that
adoption of open-source software models has resulted in savings of about $60 billion per
year to consumers.

Meaning of Hardware
Called hardware when a computing context is implicit) is the collection of physical
elements that constitutes a computer system. Computer hardware is the physical parts or
components of a computer, such as the monitor, mouse, keyboard, computer data
storage, hard disk drive (HDD), system unit (graphic cards, sound cards, memory,
motherboard and chips), and so on, all of which are physical objects that can be touched
(that is, they are tangible).[1] In contrast, software is instructions that can be stored and run
by hardware. Software is any set of machine-readable instructions that directs a
computer's processor to perform specific operations. A combination of hardware and
software forms a usable computing system.[2]

Meaning of Software
System is often divided into two categories:
a) System software : Includes the operating system and all the utilities that enable
The computer to function.
b) Application software: Includes program that do real work for users. For example
Word processors , spreadsheets, and database management systems fall under
the category of applications software.

Meaning of Open Source Operating System

Open Source Operating System is any operating system that is free to use and
which provides the original code where the source code is available (under a
copyright license) to the public, which enables them to use, modify / enhance the
operating system, and redistribute the modified (or unmodified) form of the
1

operating system. The advance user can modify the code of the operating system
to make it works better for them in starting the computer or a likely user interface.

KUBUNTU LINUX
An official derivative of the Ubuntu operating system which uses the
KDE Plasma Desktop instead of the Unity graphical environment. As
part of the Ubuntu project, Kubuntu uses the same underlying
systems. Every package in Kubuntu shares the same repositories as
Ubuntu,[3] and it is released regularly on the same schedule as
Ubuntu.[4]
Kubuntu was sponsored by Canonical Ltd. until 2012, and thereafter
by Blue Systems. During the changeover, Kubuntu retained the use of
Ubuntu project servers and existing developers.[
