On the picture there are


several sentences and words that we can analyze.
Structural analyze
For the first sentence is Gudang Garam DJAJA.
Gudang is a noun, in this context, Gudang means a place to put something extra we also can call
it as storage, Gudang is a building.
Garam is a noun. In this context mean something that has salty taste.
DJAJA is a noun. In this context DJAJA is a name. Company director of PT Gudang Garam
Tbk named Wonowidjojo. DJAJA, actually from the part of directors name, it is just taken
from an half of his name, that is djojo, and djojo is changed into DJAJA. Then his product is
named Gudang Garam DJAJA.
The second sentence is Baru! Kemasan hard pack.
Baru is an adjective. In this contetxt baru means something fresh. Fresh in the pack, different
than previous pack.
! it has semiotic meaning, this sign is to emphasize the word Baru.
Kemasan is a noun. Kemasan means pack of the cigarette.
Hard is an adjective. In this context hard just supporter for the pack, it helps the pack to has new
meaning.

Pack is a noun. In this context pack is a small cardboard or paper container and the items
contained within it. "a pack of cigarettes"

Di is preposition. In this context it explains about place.
Kantong is a noun. In this context, kantong means a place to put something.
Pas is an adjective. In this context, pas means not less or not more, its fit.
Hati is a noun. In this context , hati means something to feel sensation.
Puas is an adjective. In this context puas means, we have gotten as what we wish/want. So we
feel satisfied of it.
The last sentence is Merokok dapat menyebabkan kanker, serangan jantung, impotensi,
dan gangguan kehamilan , dan janin. This sentence actually a warning for the smoker. It has its
own purpose to make the smoker quit from smoking, but it doesnt work well.
Merokok is a verb. In this context merokok means inhaling smoke from a burning cigarette.
Dapat is verb. In this context dapat means getting something because something.
Menyebabkan is verb, In this context means we doing something and got something because
what we have done.
Kanker is noun. In this context kanker means illness that coused by smoking.
Serangan jantung is noun. This one also kind of illness that coused by smoking.
Impotensi is noun. In this context means kind of illness that coused by smoking.
Dan is conjuction. In this context dan has purpose to relate one word to another word.
Gangguan kehamilan is noun. In this context means kind of illness that coused by smoking.
Janin is noun. In this context janin can be disturbed by smoking.
Functional Analyze
Based on our analyses, on the advertisement there are several sentences. For the sentence
Gudang Garam DJAJA it is actually name of product cigarette. Gudang Garam DJAJA is one
of PT Gudang Garam Tbk product.
The sentence Baru!Kemasan hard pack. It means , PT Gudang Garam Tbk create
new pack of Gudang Garam DJAJA. The pack is harder than before, so when we put it in the bag

it will be fit. When we do not accidentally press the cigarette packaging, the packaging will not
collapse because of packaging that is made is harder.
For the sentence Di kantong pas di hati puas. From this sentence the writer wants to
tell us, if their product really good one, good in one side and good in the other side. Di kantong
pas when we analyze for this one, we know that the Gudang Garam DJAJA wants to share the
price really fits with the contents of the bag. Because of the price really fits, automatically we
will satisfied, di hati puas. Di hari puas, it has two meaning, satisfied because of the price
and satisfied because of the taste of the cigarette.
The last sentence Merokok dapat menyebabkan kanker, serangan jantung, impotensi,
dan gangguan kehamilan , dan janin. This sentence has illocutionary act. The illocutionary
meaning of this sentence is if you are being a smoker a lot of illness will you get. This sentence
actually has purpose to make the smokers quit from smoking, but it does not work well because
when we are being smokers, smoking can cause addiction, it is really hard to quit from smoking.
Theory of color.
Davi Brewster was first revealed his theory in the year 1831. In theory, Brewster tried to
classify the colors that exist in nature into four major groups.
- Color premiere. Color groups are not formed from a mixture of a mixture of other colors.
Examples of colors including color groups are red, blue, yellow.
-Secondary Colors. Color group formed from the fusion of colors or color mixing color with a
proportion of 1: 1. For example, orange is formed from mixing red and yellow, green color is

so you can use it to promote green products . As we know cigarette is made by tobacco, so
tobacco can be said as part of nature. Green has many of the same calming attributes that blue
has, but it also incorporates some of the energy of yellow. In design, green can have a balancing
and harmonizing effect, and is very stable. Its appropriate for designs related to wealth, stability,
renewal, and nature. Brighter greens are more energizing and vibrant, while olive greens are
more representative of the natural world. Dark greens are the most stable and representative of
affluence.
So, in this advertisement, the writer wants to show Gudang Garam DJAJA more nature, and
this one also has meaning that Gudang Garam DJAJA shows something new in Gudang
Garam DJAJA.

In an advertising, often used to evoke passionate feelings (red lips, red nails, etc.)
Red can be associated with anger, but is also associated with importance. Red has different
associations. For example, in China, red is the color of prosperity and happiness. It can also be
used to attract good luck. In other eastern cultures, red is worn by brides on their wedding days.

The color of white is commonly associated with light, goodness, innocence & purity.

In advertising, white is associated with coolness and cleanliness because its the color of snow
