Undergraduate senior class standing
Course Description
The course will present issues involved in developing energy resources and the discussion of
technologies. Current developments in research, government policy, and industrial approaches.
Textbook
No Text book required. Instructor will provide electronic copies of presentations and latest
literature for references both pdf and ppt files.
Learning Outcomes and Goals
1. Familiarity with the concept and potential of energy production and management.
2. Understanding different generation and platforms for energy
3. Comprehensive knowledge of technology, solutions and topics related to energy and
environment.
4. Ideas to provide solutions for next generation renewable biofuels
5. An awareness of energy resources and management.
Additional Learning out comes
Students will be expected to be able to summarize recent developments of the field and develop
hypothesis and application for research plans.
Grading Policy
1. 20% will be based on the two mid-term take home exams.
2. 20% will be based on the quizzes. I expect to give about 10 class quizzes during the
semester and student performance will be based on top eight scores. Half of the quizzes
will be take home.
3. 25% will be based on final take home exam.

4. 30% will be based on final class presentation. The students are expected to review the
latest literature on the topics assigned and present their findings as a group.
5. 5% will be based on participation during class lecturers and group meetings.

Implementation of ISO 14000 in energy projects.
Electric power conservation in buildings, principle and techniques.
Presentation format: Topic introduction, Raw material characteristics and production
platforms, Environmental issues, Global environmental laws and regulations, Government
policies, Examples of project sites, Group conclusion.

>90% A
80-90% B
70-80% C
60-70% D
<60% Fail
International lecturer series.
Your instructor has arranged six international lectures by foreign faculties on latest energy
technologies and management skills. Participation of student is must. 50% of quiz will be based
on these lecturers. Dates and details of topic and presenter will be announced at the start of each
month.
Class Attendance
Students are expected to attend class unless satisfactory evidence is presented to substitute the
reason for absence.
