Chapter 1 Overview
Interstage Application Server Plus is a Java-based application server software platform for deploying and operating
Web and Enterprise systems. Linkage with IIOP-based systems is also supported. It is equipped with a new,
integrated web-based administration tool that facilitates both ease and quickness of operation and administration.
Interstage Application Server Plus is abbreviated as Interstage Plus throughout this document.

Chapter 2 Installing Interstage Application


Server Plus
2.1 Server Package
2.1.1 System Requirements

The disk space requirements shown above have been calculated assuming a target drive using 32 KB per cluster.

2.1.2 Installing Interstage Application Server Plus server package


The Interstage Application Server Plus server package provides the following components and functionality as
standard:

Pre-Installation Preparations
Before beginning installation of Interstage Application Server Plus server package:
Ensure that all of the relevant items described in the System Requirements table are satisfied in the target
environment.
Close any applications that are running.
Delete any unnecessary paths from the environment variables (PATH, CLASSPATH)
Interstage Application Server Plus server package cannot be installed in an environment in which any of the
products listed below has already been installed. If any of the following products is already installed, uninstall it
before installing Interstage Application Server Plus server package.
- Interstage Application Server
Standard Edition, Enterprise Edition, Web Edition, Web-J Edition, Plus Interstage Application Server
Plus (Client Package) Edition
- Interstage Business Application Manager
- Webcoordinator
- Interstage Apworks
- Interstage Apworks (Apworks Client Runtime Package)
- Interstage Security Director
- Object Director for Windows NT
When Interstage Application Server Plus server package is installed onto an NTFS formatted drive, the files and
folders located in the installation folder will inherit the permissions settings of the folder into which Interstage
Application Server Plus server package is installed.
Assign either of the following permissions to the installation folder:
Administrator user (full control) and SYSTEM group (full control)
Administrators group (full control)
For details regarding the setting of user permissions for each file and folder located in the installation drive, refer to the
respective section in the Command Edition Reference Manual.
Execution of the following CORBA Service Commands:
- Odlistns
- IDLc
- Odlistir
Operation of a CORBA program that uses the odwin.dll command
Execution of the EJB Service Command
Execution of the Workunit Management Command

When Interstage certificate authority is used and SSL certificates or encryption is employed.

Installing the product


Installation of Interstage Application Server Plus server package must be performed by a user who belongs to the
Administrators group.
Use the standard install option to install the standard components and functionality of the Interstage Application Server
Plus server package, and use the custom install option for cases in which you want to specify which components are
to be installed.

If the terminal service is installed in Windows(R) 2000 Server or Windows(R) 2000 Advanced Server in application
server mode, execute the following command to switch to installation mode before installing Interstage Application
Server Plus client package.
CHANGE USER /INSTALL
After installing Plus, execute the following command to switch from installation mode to run mode.
CHANGE USER /EXECUTE
Insert the CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive. The Autorun program should launch automatically; if not, double click on the

autorun icon in the root directory of the installation CD to launch it. Click Install to launch the installation wizard. The
Installation Type Selection page is displayed.

To perform a typical install


Select the type of installation to be performed ("Typical"), and click Next. The Check Installation Settings screen is
displayed.
On the Check Installation Settings screen, check the displayed settings and select whether or not they are to be
modified, and then click Next. The Select Destination Folder screen is displayed.
Making sure that adequate disk space is available on the target drive, specify the installation folder and click Next.
The Port Number Setup page is displayed.
Specify the respective port numbers and click Next. The Interstage Management Console Settings page is displayed.
Note that if a Port number that is already assigned has been specified, the Re-enter Port Number screen requesting
reentry of the respective port number will be displayed.
Specify whether SSL encryption is to be used and click Install to begin the installation. The Setup Status page is
displayed. When the installation process has been completed, the Installation Complete page of the installation wizard
is displayed. To view the Quickstart Guide after installation is completed, check the "View Quickstart Guide" checkbox,
and then click Finish.

To perform a Custom install


Select the type of installation to be performed ("Custom"), and click Next. The Select Destination Folder screen is
displayed.
Specify the installation folder, and then click Next. The Selection of JDK or JRE screen is displayed.
Specify whether to use JDK or JRE, and then click Next. The Select Installation Folder for JDK screen is displayed.
Making sure that adequate disk space is available on the target drive, specify the installation folder for the JDK, and
then click Next. The Select JDK Version screen is displayed.
Specify the JDK version, and then click Next. The Port Number Setup page is displayed.
Specify the respective port numbers and click Next. The Interstage Management Console Settings page is displayed.
Note that if a Port number that is already assigned has been specified, the Re-enter Port Number screen requesting
reentry of the respective port number will be displayed.
Specify whether SSL encryption is to be used and click Next to display the Check Installation Settings screen is
displayed.
On the Check Installation Settings screen, check the displayed settings. Click Back to return to a previous screen to
modify a setting(s), or click Install to begin the installation. The Setup Status page is displayed.
When the installation process has been completed, the Installation Complete page of the installation wizard is
displayed. To view the Quickstart Guide after installation is completed, check the "View Quickstart Guide" checkbox,
and then click Finish.

Installing Fujitsu XML Processor


To use the Fujitsu XML processor a separate installation operation is required. Insert the product CD-ROM which
includes the server function into the CD-ROM, double-click on PlusSVXMLsetup.exe and follow the instructions of
the installer screens.
If the confirmation dialog box for system restart opens when Fujitsu XML processor installation is competed, be sure to
restart the system. The user's documentation for the Fujitsu XML Processor can be found in the program directory,
accessed by selecting Start > Programs > Fujitsu XML Processor 5.1.
On completion of installation of Interstage Application Server Plus server package and Fujitsu XML Processor, the
following program groups are registered on the Start > Programs menu:

2.1.3 Post-installation
Environment Variable Settings
In order to install Interstage Application Server Plus server package , it is necessary that the path of the folder of each
specific component of the Java integrated development environment and operation test environment be set in the
PATH environment variable, and that the paths of the respective Java class library and Jar file be set in the
CLASSPATH environment variable. The Interstage Application Server Plus installation program will automatically

modify the Windows environment variables PATH and CLASSPATH. However, if the length limit of the PATH and/or
CLASSPATH variables is exceeded at this time, the modification will fail and one of the following error messages will
be displayed.

Setting PATH and CLASSPATH


If the automatic modification of the PATH and CLASSPATH variables should fail during the installation process,
manually set the environment variable PATH according to the following procedure.
1. Display the contents (variable values) of the PATH and CLASSPATH environment variables by accessing the
Control Panel, and selecting System > Detailed Settings.
Windows NT: access the Control Panel, and select System > Environment > Environment Variables.
Windows Server 2003: access the Control Panel, and select System > Detailed Settings > Environment
Variables.
2. Delete any unnecessary paths.
3. Add the values found in the following files to the respective environment variable:
- C:Interstagepath.txt
Add the value found in this file to the system environment variable, PATH.
- C:Interstageclasspath.txt
Add the value found in this file to the system environment variable, CLASSPATH.
4. Save the variable settings, and then restart the system.

If the environment variables have not been successfully set, neither Interstage nor any of the services will be
operational. After completing the manual settings according to the procedure described above and restarting the
system, Interstage and each of the services will automatically start.

Setting up the Portal component


In order to use the Portal component, settings in addition to those existing as a result of installing Interstage
Application Server Plus server package must be specified.
Open the Start menu and select Programs > Interstage > Application Server > Portal component setup to display
the Setup screen. For details regarding setup of the Portal component, click Help on the Setup screen. After entering
all of the information for the required settings, restart the system to complete setup. For details regarding setting up
the environment of the Portal component, refer to the Interstage Portalworks Administration Guide.

Before the Portal component can be operated in a standalone environment, the following procedures must be
performed:
1. Add network adapter: Microsoft Loopback Adapter
2. Set up the added adapter, and specify under the TCP/IP settings that the IP address be obtained
automatically for the DHCP server.
A sample application for a Framework must be run before the Portal component can be set up to display the
Framework sample in the Portal component sample role window. To start the Framework sample application,
click the Start menu and select Programs > Interstage > Application Server > Framework > Execution of
sample application.
Interstage Contentbiz/Contentbiz Repository cannot be operated on a machine on which the Portal component
is being operated.

2.1.4 Uninstalling Interstage Application Server Plus server package


Before uninstalling Interstage Application Server Plus server package, close any applications that are running.
Installation of Interstage Application Server Plus server package must be performed by a user who belongs to the

Administrators group.
To uninstall Interstage Application Server Plus server package open the Start menu, select Control Panel >
Add/Remove Programs, and click Delete to launch the uninstaller.
Click OK on the confirmation screen to start the uninstallation processing. The completion screen is displayed after the
uninstallation processing finishes. Specify whether or not to restart the system, and then click Finish.
If the Fujitsu XML Processor has been installed, a separate uninstall operation is required to uninstall it. The operation
is the same as that used to uninstall Interstage Application Server Plus server package. After the uninstallation is
complete, delete the Fujitsu XML Processor Jar files that have been set to the CLASSPATH.

2.1.5 Upgrading an earlier version


Interstage Application Server Plus server package supports product upgrade. An existing installation of an earlier
edition of the same product can be upgraded without requiring that the previously installed version be uninstalled. The
environment resources and configuration settings are inherited from the previous installation when the upgrade is
performed, thereby eliminating the necessity of having to reconfigure the environment after completing the upgrade.
However, for cases in which the operation type is changed, it is necessary to reconfigure the environment.

2.1.6 Adding/Deleting components to an existing installation


Interstage Application Server Plus server package supports addition/deletion of components to an existing installation.
When adding components it is necessary to configure each respective component.

2.2 Client Package

Post-installation Configuration
Fujitsu XML Processor
To use the Fujitsu XML processor a separate installation operation is required. Insert the product CD-ROM which
includes the server function into the CD-ROM, double-click on APSXMLsetup.exe and follow the instructions of the
installer screens.
If the confirmation dialog box for system restart opens when Fujitsu XML processor installation is competed, be sure to
restart the system. The user's documentation for the Fujitsu XML Processor can be found in the program directory,
accessed by selecting Start > Programs > Fujitsu XML Processor 5.1.

CORBA SERVICE
When the CORBA Service is used for application linkage, it is necessary to refer to a Naming Service or an Interface
Repository to acquire information about the respective applications. To this end, it is necessary that the host
information of a Naming Service or Interface Repository be defined in the inithost file of the CORBA Client.
Setting of the host information to the inithost parameter can be performed by use of the odsethost command
(C:InterstageODWINbinodsethost).
Restart the system after setting the CORBA server information to the inithost file.

Portable ORB
When the Portable-ORB is used, the following settings must be performed, according to the operation mode.

Java application

* When the Portable-ORB or a Java applet is to be downloaded from a Web server, the Portable-ORB module and
operating environment files must be located under the documents root directory of the Web server. The exact storage
location differs according to the operation type. For more detailed information, refer to the section on "Setting up the
Portable-ORB operating environment file" in the chapter "Executing CORBA applications in the "Developing CORBA
Applications (Java)" manual of the J2EE User's Guide.
1. intial_hosts settings
The host name and port number of the Naming Service and Interface Repository to be referred to must be
added to the Portable-ORB operating environment file (C:InterstagePORBetcinitial_hosts).
In the operation mode in which only Java applets are to be downloaded, use the intial_hosts file residing on

the Web server, and in the operation mode using only Java applications, edit the edit the intial_hosts file.
2. CLASSPATH SETINGS
In the operation mode in which the Portable-ORB is to be downloaded from a Web server, the CLASSPATH
variable of the Client operated by (installed by) the Portable-ORB must be set.
The Java library to be set to the CLASSPATH variable differs depending on the JDK/JRE. For more detailed
information, refer to the section on "Setting up the Portable-ORB operating environment file" in the chapter
"Executing CORBA applications in the "Developing CORBA Applications (Java)" manual of the J2EE User's
Guide.

2.2.3 Uninstalling Interstage Application Server Plus client package

Chapter 3 Operation
In this chapter, the procedures for operating applications by use of the Interstage Management Console are explained.

3.1 Starting the Management Console


To start the Management Console, first start the browser enter the URL as follows:
http://hostname:port-no/IsAdmin
Specify the host name of the server on which Interstage Application Server Plus is installed. The default port number
used for the Management Console is 12000.
The logon screen is displayed. Enter the user (Administrator) ID and password to logon. The Management Console is
displayed.

3.2 Defining WorkUnits (IJServer)


To create a new WorkUnit for running Web and Enterprise applications, select System > WorkUnits from the file
hierarchy displayed in the panel on the left side of the screen. Click the Create a new Workunit tab and enter the
"WorkUnit name" (in this example, "IJServer001") under General Settings. Click the create tab to display the IJServer
settings page.
Specify the WorkUnit (IJServer) type, and enter the information for the WorkUnit settings, referring to the item
descriptions available for each item by enablement of the "On-Screen Item Descriptions" under the Console
Preferences tab on the Welcome page, as required.
Next, select System > WorkUnits > IJServer001 from the file hierarchy displayed in the panel on the left side of the
screen. The IJServer Definition page is displayed. Click the Settings tab, and select a settings category to enter the
respective settings.

3.3 Deployment
To deploy an application from the Management Console, select System > WorkUnits > IJServer001 from the file
hierarchy on the left panel, and then click the Deployment tab. Enter the file name of the application to be deployed
and specify whether the WorkUnit is to be restarted automatically after the deployment, and then click the Deploy
button to deploy the application.

3.4 Operation
Starting Interstage
To start Interstage, start the Management Console and select System > WorkUnits from the file hierarchy displayed
in the panel on the left side of the screen. Click the View Workunit Status tab and click the Start System button if the
System Status of Interstage is anything other than "Running."

Starting a WorkUnit
To start a WorkUnit, select System > WorkUnits and the name (IJServer001)of the target Workunit from the file
hierarchy displayed in the panel on the left side of the screen. Click the Status tab and click the Start WorkUnit
button if the status is anything other than "Running."

Calling an application
To call an application, first start the browser enter the URL as follows:
http://hostname:port-no/Web Application Name/
Specify the host name of the Web server on which the WorkUnit is deployed. The default port number used for the
Web server is 80.

3.5 Screen integration using the Portal Component


The Portal component is used to integrate Web application screens and webpage screens into a single screen, or
"portal".

3.5.1 Registering Services


Web application screens and Web pages to be referenced by the Portal component must be registered in the system
as services.
First, start the Management Console by inputting the following URL in the browser.
http://hostname:port-no/portalworks/PWAdminSystem
Specify the host name of the Web server. The default port number used for the Web server is 80.
Next, open the Service menu and click Register an Alias. On the Register an Alias screen, select WebUSP(PC)
from the USP or Scenario to use list. Enter the respective settings information in each field, and then click Apply.
Repeat the above steps for each service to be registered.

3.5.2 Starting the Portal Component


Enter the following URL in the Web browser to display the Portal component Logon page.
http://hostname:port-no/portalworks/director
Specify the host name of the Web server. The default port number used for the Web server is 80.
Registered users can logon by entering their user ID and password and clicking OK. It is possible for a new user to
register his or her self if the administrator has allowed self-registry. To register yourself, click the Registration link on
the Logon page. If the administrator has allowed self-registry, the User Information - Register User Profile page will be
displayed.
On the User Information - Register User Profile page, enter the information for each setting, and then click Apply to
complete the registration process and display the Logon page. Enter your user ID and password and click OK to log
on. The Portal page is displayed.
The Portal page is comprised of a page root, a common area, a root panel, a role group, panel tabs, panels, and
bricks. The user can navigate the Portal page similar to a Web browser, and can be perform various tasks on the
Portal page.
Roles are used to determine which information and services a user has access to. Roles are generally assigned by
the administrator. The common area displays the panels, information and services available to all users. The root
panel displays the role group, the panel tabs, as well as the currently displayed panels. A group is a collection of
panels that have been sorted by type. A panel is an area where bricks are displayed, and the panel tab indicates the
panel group name or contents of the panels available to the user. A brick is an area that displays and provides access
to services.
To use a service, click on the panel tab of the panel containing the brick corresponding to the desired service. When
using services over a network it is often necessary to enter authentication information, such as a user ID and
password. The Portal component proxy logon function maintains such authentication data and automatically supplies
the authentication data and performs logs on to the specified service on behalf of the user. The proxy logon function
can be applied to three basic authentication types:
Basic authentication
Form authentication
Proxy server authentication

Basic authentication
When using a Web service that employs basic authentication, the Basic Authentication Information Settings window is
displayed if proxy logon information has not been saved. Enter the information for the following settings:
domain - the name of the server providing the target service
realm - the name of the realm with which the target service is associated
user id - the user ID to log on to the target service (up to 64 bytes)
password - logon password, up to 64 bytes
comments - up to 64 bytes
Check the "Save" checkbox to save the settings as proxy logon information, and then click OK.

Form authentication
When using a Web service that employs basic authentication, the Form Authentication Information Settings window is
displayed if proxy logon information has not been saved. The format of the Form Authentication Information Settings
window may vary depending on the service being used. In general, the following information must be specified:
domain - the name of the server providing the target service
user id - the user ID to log on to the target service (up to 64 bytes)
password - logon password,

After entering the information for the respective settings, click OK to display the Form Authentication Settings window.
In the Form Authentication Settings window, enter any comments (up to 64 bytes), and specify whether the settings
are to be saved as proxy information. To display the Logon window next time the service is called, check the "Show
logon window next time" checkbox. Click Settings to start the logon authentication processing.

Proxy server authentication


When using a Web service that employs Proxy server authentication, the Proxy server authentication Information
Settings window is displayed if proxy logon information has not been saved. Enter the information for the following
settings:
Proxy Server - the name of the proxy server requiring authentication
realm - the name of the realm with which the proxy server is associated
user id - the user ID to log on to the target service (up to 64 bytes)
password - logon password, up to 64 bytes
comments - up to 64 bytes
Check the "Save" checkbox to save the settings as proxy logon information, and then click Settings.

Certificates
When connecting to encrypted sites using SSL, a dialog for selecting whether or not to register a certificate is
displayed in the brick. This is done so that users can check the certificate of that site and to inform users that the site
is secure. To register the certificate, check the "Validate this certificate and register it so that this window is not
displayed next time you connect to this site." Checkbox and click Yes.

3.5.3 Customization
The Portal component support customization of the following:
Portal page
User information
Proxy logon information
Certificates
Two customization windows are available for customization of the Portal page: My Portal and My Brick.

Customizing the page


The My Portal window facilitates customization of the Portal page format, the bricks and the brick layout, as well as
the creation, modification and deletion of private bricks. To display the My Portal window, click the Personalize link in
the Portal page.
To modify the page design, click on the Page link in the My Portal window. The Page Settings window is displayed. On
the Page Settings window, the following items can be customized:
Panel tab style
Color scheme
Brick format and spacing
After entering the desired settings, view the changes in the preview screen displayed in the pane on the right side of
the screen. Click Update to save the modifications.
To modify the panel layout, click on the Panel link in the My Portal window to display the Modify Panel/Group window.
Select the Group/Panel that is to be customized from the displayed list, and then select the operation to be performed
from the pull-down menu. The window displayed on the right side of the My Portal page will change to the window
corresponding to the selected operation.
To modify the position of the bricks, click on the Panel link in the My Portal window, and then select Root Panel or the
private panel that is to be modified. Select Layout Change from the pull-down menu to display the Layout Change
window for the selected panel.
In the Layout Change window, select the desired brick layout format in the "Layout style" pane. To move a brick, select
the brick to be moved in the "Move a brick" pane. Use the buttons or the mouse to position the brick, and then click
Update to save the modifications and change the display position of the brick.

If the administrator has prohibited layout modification, neither this window nor the Layout Changes window will
be displayed.
The width of the boxes may not be displayed at the specified dimension due to the number of roles displayed
or tab styles.
To modify the alignment of the panels, click on the Panel link in the My Portal window, and then select the panel that is
to be modified. Select Panel Order Change from the pull-down menu to display the Panel Order Change window for
the selected panel.
In the Panel Order Change window, select panel that is to be moved, and operate the up and down arrow buttons to
move it up and down within the list. Click Update to save the modification and change the alignment of the panel.
To modify the display style of the bricks, click on the Panel link in the My Portal window, and then select Root Panel
or the private panel that is to be modified. Select Brick List from the pull-down menu to display the Brick List window
for the selected panel.
In the Brick List window, select the brick(s) to be modified, and then select the operation from the pull-down menu to
modify the selected brick(s).

Setting the panel tab design


The design of the panel tabs can be customized, including the color, display style, font, etc.
To customize the panel tab design, click the Personalize link in the Portal page to display the My Portal window, and
then click on the Panel link in the My Portal window to display the Panel Settings window. Select the Group/Panel to
be modified, and then select Tab Personalize from the pull-down menu. The settings window for the selected
Group/Panel is displayed.
In the settings window, specify the information for the elements to be customized, view the changes in the preview
screen displayed in the pane on the right side of the screen. Click Update to save the modifications.

Modifying the tab design of the root panel, will also change the page design.
The page settings window shows the function settings for Internet Explorer. In Netscape, it is not possible to
set the font family and style (oblique).
In Netscape (R) 4.x, changing the window size during personalization will display the "My Portal" window.

Customizing the brick


The My Brick window facilitates customization of the color scheme, size, and font type of bricks. In the Portal page,
click the Personalize button next to the brick that is to be modified to display the My Brick window.
In the My Brick window, modify the settings you wish to customize, and click Update to save the modifications.

3.5.4 Operating private panels


The Portal component supports creation, display, modification and deletion of private (user-defined) panels.
To create a private panel click the Personalize link in the Portal page to display the My Portal window, and then click
on the Panel link in the My Portal window to display the Panel Settings window. Select Root Panel from the displayed
list, and then select Add from the pull-down menu to display the Brick List window. Enter a name for the new panel
and click Apply to create the new panel.
To change the name of a private panel, click on the Panel link in the My Portal window to display the Panel Settings
window. Select the name of the panel that is to be modified from the displayed list, and then select Brick List from the
pull-down menu. The Brick List window is displayed. Enter the new name for the panel, and then click Apply to save
the modification.
To delete a private panel, display the Panel Settings window, and then select the name of the panel that is to be
deleted from the displayed list. Select Delete from the pull-down menu, and click OK in the confirmation window to
delete the panel.

3.5.5 Operating private bricks


The Portal component supports creation, display, modification and deletion of private (user-defined) bricks.
To create a private brick click the Personalize link in the Portal page to display the My Portal window, and then click
on the Private Brick link in the to display the Private Brick List window. Select New from the pull-down menu in the
Private Brick List window. The Create a Private Brick window is displayed. Enter the information for the settings in the
Create a Private Brick window, and then click Apply to create the new private brick.
To modify a private brick, select the private brick that is to be modified on the Private Brick List, and then select Edit
from the pull-down menu. The Modify Private Brick window is displayed. Modify the brick's settings and then click
Apply to save the modifications.
To delete a private brick, display the Private Brick List window, and then select the name of the private brick that is to
be deleted from the displayed list. Select Erase from the pull-down menu, and click OK in the confirmation window to
delete the selected brick.

3.5.6 Modifying user information


To modify the user registration information registered in the Portal component, click the Profile link in the Portal page
to display the Modify User Profile window. Modify the target settings, and then click Modify to save the modifications.

3.5.7 Modifying proxy logon information


To modify the user registration information registered in the Portal component, click the Profile link in the Portal page
to display the Modify User Profile window. Click Modify Proxy Logon Information to display the Modify Proxy Logon
Information window. Modify the target settings, and then click Modify to save the modifications.

3.5.8 Viewing/Deleting certificates


Certificates that have been validated and registered in the Portal component can be viewed and deleted. To view or
delete a certificate, click the Profile link in the Portal page to display the Modify User Profile window. Click Delete
Certificate Information to display the Delete Certificate Information window. The information for the registered
certificates is displayed, and can be deleted by checking the "Delete" checkbox of the target certificate, and then
clicking the Delete button.

3.5.9 Logging off of Portal Component


Click the Logoff link in the Portal page to log off of the Portal component. The Logon page is displayed.

browser, select that number you matches your guess. The sample consists of a Servlet and

This sample is an example of putting items selected on a Web page in a shopping cart. The
sample consists of a Servlet, JSP and EJB.
How to run a sample application is explained below.
