HISTORIA DE LOS VILLANCICOS

Se dice que el compositor de los primeros villancicos fue el Marqus de

Santillana, que compuso una serie de canciones para celebrar con sus tres
hijos el misterio de la Navidad.
Sin embargo, los primeros villancicos que se conocen fueron compuestos
por los evangelizadores en el siglo V, con la finalidad de llevar la Buena
Nueva a los aldeanos y campesinos que no saban leer. Sus letras hablaban
en lenguaje popular sobre el misterio de la encarnacin y estaban inspirados
en la liturgia de la Navidad. Se llamaba villanus al aldeano y con el tiempo,
el nombre de estas canciones navideas cambi a villancicos. stos
hablan en un tono sensible e ingenioso de los sentimientos de la Virgen
Mara y de los pastores ante el Nacimiento de Cristo.
En el siglo XVII, se extienden por todo el mundo junto con los nacimientos
de San Francisco de Ass.
Los villancicos favorecen la participacin en la liturgia de Adviento y de
Navidad. Cantar villancicos es un modo de demostrar nuestra alegra y
gratitud a Jess y escucharlos durante el Adviento ayuda a la preparacin
del corazn para el acontecimiento de la Navidad.
Los villancicos nos recuerdan la alegra del nacimiento de Cristo.
En el caso de la Navidad, lo ms importante de las tradiciones y costumbres
no es slo su aspecto exterior, sino su significado interior. Debemos vivir
todas estas costumbres y tradiciones con mucha alegra, reflexionando en
su significado y aprovechndolas para estar ms cerca de Dios.

HISTORY OF CAROLS
