The Art of Fortune Telling

If you are given a book with your entire life, from your birth to death, written on it,
will you read it? Why or why not?

She sits across her customer- feeling her vibration, reading her future. She tells her
to shuffle the cards initially seven times which is on the table. She did as he was
told. And now the customer is told to divide the cards on three and place it back on
the table upside down. Again, she did as she was told.

She flips the cards one by one. "Inday, hinay hinay kaw sa paghigugma. Kay kun
indi, katatlo ka gid nga beses maduluan sang pangasaw-on." Miss, slow down with
your romance. If not, you'll lose your groom-to-be three times.

With a terrifying fortune she had just heard, she bids goodbye to the fortune teller
and chooses to move forward no matter 'what' lies ahead.

Whatever she says, scary or not, Tita Wilma* is often visited by those who want to
take a sneak peek on their future. She says this is a gift she's been having since she
was on her fifth grade. The family from her father's side is inclined with alternative
healing. She, however, doesn't want to have anything to do with alternative healing
but she sees herself to be good at fortune telling.

When Tita Wilma was asked what made her pursue fortune telling, she answered it
was because of the sound of cards flipping. She wasn't really interested on playing
cards because of her impression of people who play cards are gamblers and she
didn't like that. She, herself, didn't also believe in her abilities until it became so
apparent not just to herself but also to her family. At first, she denies everything she

foresees and thinks of them as mere coincidences until it all piled up and she
realized it's undeniable anymore- she has the gift of fortune telling.

Fortune telling is the practice of seeing future events. Some are born with it and
others gain this ability through studying. This has been widely used to help people
solve their problems and prepare for their future. Others seek help in order to
prevent the misfortunes seen by the fortune teller.

Yet according to Leviticus 20:27, A man or a woman who is a medium or a

necromancer shall surely be put to death. They shall be stoned with stones; their
blood shall be upon them. These verses tell us that practices of fortunetelling and
others such as tarot cards, horoscopes, palm readings, and sances, etc., are based
on the concept that theres no way to contact gods, spirits, or deceased loved ones
that can give us advice and guidance. Others may see fortune telling as bogus and
mere intelligent guessing which are quite obvious to happen.
For Tita Wilma, it depends upon the person on which side to choose. According to
her, if you stand by God and choose to help others, then it is good. She said that
majority of her sightings are about relationship issues of an individual with his or her
partner. Basta ang importante nakabulig ako. But if you use such skill in a way
that might hurt others, then you might be on the other side.

And there is also one thing she stressed out. Importante gid and prayer. She
claimed that her ability is a gift from God. She does not do any rituals or energy
channeling before starting to read someones future. When asked from where she
takes her strength, she knowingly nodded and pointed above.
You may be wondering of what happened to the customer whom she told to slow
down in her love life. She recalls this as one of the most unforgettable hula she has
ever done in her lifetime.
Ang una ya nga mapangasawa tani napatay sa aksidente. Ang ika-duwa ga-upod sa
army. Natiruhan to. Ang ikatlo, foreigner- gin-atake sa puso. Pero nakapangasawa
man siya sa gihapon sa guwa.
To believe or not to believe- the choice is yours. Si God lang man gihapon ang
makahambal sa kung ano gid man. Whatever the choice you made, it is still
important to rely on your own skills and abilities, effort, and your dedication. After

all, you are always going to be the master of your fate and the captain of your soul.
The future is always going to be uncertain and every decisions we make has little or
lots of risks on it. But one thing is for sure: Trust God and everything will be alright.
