Grade 11 IB Concerns
1. The key to success in IB is Consistency. Students
should stay consistent with studies:
Students NEVER NEED to check Facebook for
announcements or updates from IB teachers
(Managebac and e-mail are used).
2 to 2.5 hours of study time is sufficient, but
students need help managing distractions
Theres always something to do: review
Chinese, read novels, practice Math, EE / CAS
2. SAT / College entrance reviews can help, but should
not come at the expense of studies and balanced
life.

How can Parents Help?

1. Help him develop and stick to a reasonable study
schedule, It may be helpful to ask him to spend one
hour of study time offline.
Self-Management Skills (organization, resilience,
motivation, manage distractions)
Grit - passion & determination to achieve a longterm goal
2. Support (or join) him in his CAS activities, and ask
him what he is learning about himself and the world
through these experiences.
3. Share your real life experiences (the good and the
bad!), especially in regards to friendship,
college, and career.

CAS
CREATIVITY

Arts, and other

experiences that
involve creative
thinking.

ACTION

Physical exertion
contributing to a
healthy lifestyle.

SERVICE

An unpaid and
voluntary exchange for
underprivileged
communities.

Creativity, Action, Service

1. Purposeful activities with significant
outcomes.
2. Tasks should push the student beyond
comfort zones.
3. Thoughtful consideration, especially in
planning and reflecting.
4. Students should be supervised by an
adult (not related to the student), who can
attest to the students CAS involvement.
