IAS Syllabus 2015 (Preliminary & Mains Exam Pattern)

IAS Exams: IAS examination is conducted in 2 stages. Details of these stages is given below:

CSPE or Civil Services Preliminary Examinations

CSME or Civil Services Main Examination


In the preliminary examination question paper contains only objective types of question while in the main
examination there will be written examination and then interview which is toughest part of the selection
process.
Civil Services Preliminary Examinations syllabus: There will be two papers in this examination. For
paper-1 write down the syllabus:

General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change that do not
require subject specialization.

Civil Services Main Examination syllabus: This examination consists of several papers. Details of those
papers are given below.
Paper-1:
This paper consists of two sections in section-1 there will be essay writing and section-2 consists of
English Comprehension & English of the 10th class standard.
Paper-2:
This paper is general studies and is known as General Studies-1. This consists the questions of Indian
Heritage and Culture, History and Geography of the World and Society.
Paper-3:
This paper is known as General Studies-2 and it contain the question of Governance, Constitution, Polity,
Social Justice and International relations.
Paper-4:
This paper is known as General Studies-3 and it contain the question of Technology, Economic
Development, Bio-diversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management.
Paper-5:
This paper is known as General Studies-3 and it contain the question of Ethics, Integrity and Aptitude.
Paper-6:
In paper-6 you can select any subject from the syllabus of Paper-1.
Paper-7:
In this paper you can select any subject from the syllabus of Paper-2.
