DOCSIS 3.0

Principais caractersticas do DOCSIS 3.0

Primeiras especificaes em Agosto de 2006
Motivao:
Permitir mais trfego para CM DOCSIS 1.x e 2.0;
Limitar ou reduzir a necessidade de quebra de node (split);
Introduzir novos produtos com velocidades superiores a
38Mbps;
impactos ou perda de investimento;
Criptografia de dados mais robusta;
Suporte a IPv6;
Reduo do custo por porta do CMTS.

Principais caractersticas do DOCSIS 3.0

Channel Bonding:
Utilizao de 2 ou mais canais
DS/US para agregar o trfego.

Principais caractersticas do DOCSIS 3.0

Melhorias na Segurana:
Implementa encriptao 128 bits (Advanced
Encriptation Standar (AES);
Implementa autenticao antes do registro;
Autenticao do arquivo de configurao;
Verificao de endereos IP;
Revogao de Certificado invlido.

Plano de Frequncias
Especificao definidas na PHY:
DOWNSTREAM:
Operando no intervalo entre 54 MHz e 1002 MHz;
6 MHz;

UPSTREAM:
Operando no intervalo entre 5 a 30 MHz, 5 a 42 MHz e
5 a 85 MHz;
6 MHz .

MULPI e SEC
A figura abaixo descreve onde, na arquitetura DOCSIS 3.0,
aplicada a MULPI (MAC and Upper Layer Interface Specification).
Adicionalmente a Security Specification (SEC) agrupada nas
mesmas interfaces, conforme arquitetura CableLabs.

Algumas Terminologias da Arquitetura MULPI

Edge QAM ou Edge Quadrature Amplitude Modular
(EQAM): estas interfaces interagem na equalizao e
modulao do fluxo de Downstream de um M-CMTS;
garantir o sincronismo;
I-CMTS: Integrated Cable Modem Termination System;
Operations Support Systems (OSS): o OSS manipula o
sistema de provisionamento de banda larga (incluindo
DHCP e DNS), gerenciamento de CPE, segurana,
provisionamento de servio multicast;

Especificao MULPI
Em geral, a especificao MULPI define:
Protocolos da camada MAC para DOCSIS 3.0;
Requerimento de protocolos de camadas
sureriores (IP, DHCP, etc.);
Channel Bonding;
Melhorias para as requisies Upstream;
IP multicast, QoS e IPv6.

QoS, Authorization, etc
IPv6
Provisionamento e gerncia de CMs
Suporte a Dual Stack;
Suporte DHCPv6 e DHCP prefix delegation;

HFC:
4 canais = 160Mbps
8 canais = 320Mbps
24 canais = 1Gbps

Business services:
L2VPN;

Downstream Channel Bonding

Segue abaixo termos e conceitos introduzidos
com DOCSIS 3.0 para Downstream Channel
Bonding:
Wideband: mltiplos canais downstream interligados;
Para operar com Channel Bonding, os Modems /MTAs
devem ser implementados em DOCSIS 3.0;
2.0, CM & MTAs;

Termos Comumente utilizados

Controller Modular-Cable: uma controladora ModularCable representa uma Shared port adapter (SPA), e uma
instncia dessa controladora criada para cada SPA.
Informaes de conectividade EQAM e parmetros fsicos
(Frequncia QAM, tipo de modulao, etc.) so
configurados na controladora;

downstream (NB). Caractersticas em layer3 ( cable
bundle, cable arp, static multicast,etc.) so configuradas
nessa interface.
Exemplo de configurao:

Termos Comumente utilizados

Fiber Node: descreve a planta da topologia. So
vistos por um grupo de modems;
Exemplo de Configurao:

Termos Comumente utilizados

Termos Comumente utilizados

Downstream Modular-Cable (comando):
canais DS QAMs aos canais US.
