Module Two:

Lesson 3:

Part 1

Terminal objective: The pupils will be able to complete a gapped paragraph with reference to a given
time table.
Enabling objectives: The pupils will be able to:
Fill in a given schedule
speak about ones time table
listen and identify the speakers
listen and answer comprehension questions
Skills: Speaking, Reading, listening and Writing
Lexix: optional, compulsory, surf the net, time table, schedule
structure: the stress in the words ending with tion and al
Materials: the books, the board, the tape recorder, flash cards
Speaking test: two pupils will be asked to enact a conversation one of them will play the role of a
journalist who wants to write a report about a school. Another pupil will play the role of the student who will
have to answer the journalists questions.
Procedure:
I-Presentation:
Ill provide some pupils with flash cards containing questions and other pupils with flash cards containing
answers. Those who have the questions will have to read them aloud so that the other pupils will recognize
the appropriate answers.
Some examples will be written on the board:
Do you have an optional subject at school?
-All the subjects we study at school are compulsory.

-From 11 to 12 we study Maths.
How many subjects do you study at school?
-At school we study 14 subjects.
Here the pupils will have to jot down all the subjects they know and Ill draw the a spidergram on the board
to write the pupils suggestions.

II-Practice:
Ill ask the pupils to open their A-B on p 47.
Whats this? This is a time table=a schedule
The pupils will have to fill in the time table. Then they will have to make sentences.
Ex: on Monday, I have English from 11 to 12.
Transition: Ill ask the pupils to tell me what do they do after school?
I expect many answers: watch tv, read books, surf the net

extra-curricular activities they have at their school.
Enabling objectives: The pupils will be able to:
read a text and choose the appropriate title
read a text and explain it to the other groups
complete the paraphrased form of a text
complete gapped sentences
Skills: Speaking, Reading, and Writing
Lexix: optional, compulsory, extra-curricular activities, packed lunch, snacks

Materials: the books, the board, visuals
Speaking test: two pupils will be asked to enact a conversation one of them will play the role of a

Ill show the pupils some visuals;

A picture of someone who is surfing the net
A picture of someone who is listening to the radio
A picture of someone who is reading a magazine
Then Ill ask them the following question: Why do people do such activities?

II-Practice:
Ill ask the pupils to open their S-B on p 46
These are the 4 text Imene selected from the internet
Ill divide the class into groups of four, Ill give each group a hand out containing the assigned text without
the title. Ill write the titles of the four texts on the board. Each group will have to read the assigned text and
choose the appropriate title.
Then each group will have to answer some comprehension questions about the assigned text in order for the
other groups to have idea about the four texts.

Text4: the text is about having lunch inside or outside the school (the school canteen)

Some pupils prefer to bring cold lunch or packed lunch.
After that Ill ask each group to complete the paraphrased form of the assigned text in their A-B on p 48
and 49.
To check the pupils understanding of the new studied vocabulary, they will be asked to do activity 6 in
their A-B on p 49.
Here Ill choose some words from this activity to show the pupils the stressed syllable.
Ill invite a pupil to the board to divide the word into syllables
