Description:

Promotional flier for a graduate leadership conference in

Black and White.

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130
Jason Stucki

Process:

After receiving the project guidelines I created some sketches. Once I decided on a layout, I completed a draft in
Adobe InDesign. I used this for my critiquing process with
my peers. After making the adjustments that had been
recommended for me, I produced this finished project. My
main focus on this was alignment. I wanted to make a clean
presentation that had balance and alignment. I used the
2/3 approach for the image and title, and then an opposing 2/3 block of text. I also wanted to work in an equal
amount of white space. I then made sure that all aspects
had an alignment partner. The image, text and body copy
where provided for me to work with.

Message:

The flyer is designed to speak to recent graduates. It is

especially catchy to those who wish to increase their leadership skills, and are actively looking for a way to do this.

Audience:

Recent graduates 22+

Description:

A color full-bleed event ad to promote an event using only

Microsoft Word and a scanner.

Process:

I scanned the tomato image from a seed catalog that I had.

I cropped it to be the desired size. then I created shapes to
form all the boxes of color around it. I then used text boxes
to square off all of the information I wanted on the layout. I
chose the color pallet and made it all work together. I tried
to use the alignment as the key for repetition, and left plenty
of white space. After I had it all the best I could, I converted
it to a PDF and printed it on my Epson printer.

Message:

MY message is fresh food from the garden from heirloom

seeds.

Audience:

My audience is to the gardener who would, or is already

working at the heirloom level. The age is across the board.

Incorporating color into a poster layout with original photo.

Course/Instructor:

Process:

After considering what kind of a color scheme I wanted to

tackle, I sat out to look for an image that would fit my pallet. I used my digital camera to catch a variety of pictures
to work with. I sat to work on Photoshop to refine all of the
settings that would highlight the color scheme I was working
with and show the image in its best light. I then when to
work on the layout and incorporated the elements of typography, made desired changes suggested to me during
my critiquing sessions and this is what we came up with. I
really enjoyed this process.

Message:

The message I was trying to send out was fun. I really think
that the chickens have a serious air about them, but who
can take a chicken seriously. I also chose a saying that
really speaks to the value of a woman. I think that if their is
anything celebrated about a chicken it would be their fertility.

Audience:

Women between the ages 13 and 60

Description:

This project was an informational tri fold brochure for Mountain Maiden on the healing power of St. Johns Wort.

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130
Jason Stucki

Process:

Setting up a tri fold in Adobe InDesign, I split my layout into

six sections. I used violet boarders to enclose the pictures
and text for repetition and flow. I used photos that showed
green and yellow foliage to create contrast against the violet. I used similar back ground on both sides for unity. For
the image of the cup of tea and apothecary goblet I used
Adobe Photoshop to remove the background of the image.
I then placed the images into InDesign where I used the
text wrap option. I created the logo in Illustrator using the
pen tool and then ran it through the same process as the
teacup image to remove the back ground. I then placed it
into InDesign.

Message:

The message this brochure conveys is that there is a natural

approach to healing the body of depression.

Audience:

There is no specific age, but one would need to be able to

read. It is intended for both genders as well.

FoldingBrochure

Description:

A web page designed to showcase a personally created

logo.

Process:

I created this web page using only notepad. After I marked

up all my content and inserted my image, I attached a CSS
document to my HTML. I then used the colors from my
logo as the colors for my web page. I found these colors by
opening Photoshop and using the eyedropper tool. I also
changed my fonts to Arial and Verdana. I declared some
backup fonts just in case the viewers browser didnt have
these fonts. I also used padding around the logo and text. I
centered some of the text, and styled the list to add a little
to the over all design. I changed the corners on the title to
make it resemble an envelope.

Message:

Mountain Maiden is a wilderness centered website.

Audience:

Anyone who is interested in rural living.

WebPage

Description:

An inspirational montage made by the blending of two or

more images, and the use of typography.

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130
Jason Stucki

Process:

I cropped the background image to 8.511, and I added the

water color filter over the background. I selected the photo
of my children and moved him to the background image,
then I added a mask. With black paint and a 100% opacity, soft-edged brush, I painted away the hard image edges.
I then lightened the opacity and softened the edges of my
children, blending the image into the background, so it looks
like they are fading into the scene. I adjusted the image with
the color select tool to highlight the color scheme. I added some type with two contrasting fonts and arranged it to
complement the images.

Message:

We only know our own hearts. God knows everyone.

Audience:

My children ages 7-11 where my desired audience. I believe that the actual audience could range from 7- 100+

Description:
Logo for an organization
Process:
I really enjoyed the process of creating a logo in Illustrator. I
chose a website that I am building called Mountain Maiden
(mountainmaiden.org). I tried to consider my audience and
focus and then went to work with thumbnails. After trying
out several different and ideas, I took a vote on which was
the best. I chose the one I liked best which happened to be
the same one. I refined the typography and font choices by
making sure that it complemented the back ground. I tried to
work with bold and italicized words to add contrast so they
stand out, but in the end realized that the simplicity in the
design worked best. I then refined my pencil mountain scape
in the back ground to complement all the changes in the text
that I had made.
Programs/Tools Used:
Adobe Illustrator
Message: Mountain Maiden is about a girl in the mountains.
Audience: Individuals who are attracted to a natural approach
to life, and all that entails
