Event Ad
Description:

I used Microsoft Word Publishing view to design this


ad. I scanned a photo about family history and tied it
in to what I wanted. The colors I used for the text boxes
were taken from the photo to use both repetition and
color schemes.

Objectives:

Process:

I used Microsoft Word Publishing view to design this


ad. I scanned a photo about family history and tied it
in to what I wanted. The colors I used for the text boxes
were taken from the photo to use both repetition and
color schemes.do with the hidden design features of
Microsoft Word.

Montage
Description:

An insperational montage made by the blending of two


or more images, and the use of typography.

Use Photoshop layers.


Learn to blend images together smoothly, using masks.
Use filters.
Apply appropriate typography.

Process:

I used Photoshop for this project. I resized the images


to be 8 1/2 X 11 for the larger image, and 3 X 5 for the
smaller. I used the sharpen tool on the eyes. I created a
mask of the image of the sparrow. I painted out the parts
of the mask I did not want to use. I changed the opacity
for the image of the sparrow over the image of Jesus. I
used a black and white photo for the sparrow to contrast
the image of Jesus face. I used a white contrast color for
the text.

Flier
Description:

Black & White promotional flier to promote a graduate


leadership conference.

Objectives:

Apply the design principles and use appropriate


typography.
Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout.

Process:

I used InDesign for this assignment. I used contrast for


both the text and the white background of the page. I
selected an image of the full logo for the upper right
corner to announce the company. I selected old style and
sans serif fonts that worked well together for the body
copy and Title. I then selected a final image to bring
everything together.

Letterhead
Description:

Matching letterhead and business card designed using a


personally created logo.

Objectives:

Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image.


Design layout for a business card and letterhead.
Use the basic tools of Illustrator & InDesign.

Process:

I used Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign for


this project. I created the Logo in Adobe Illustrator
manipulating the letters to fit inside one another and
changing the color to compliment the background color. I
then used the logo and information as the focal point for
the letterhead.

Imaging
Description:

A personally taken photograph that has been edited/formatted


using Photoshop.

Objectives:

Learn basic photography skills.


Use a digital camera to take a quality image, then download it.
Size and crop the image.
Adjust image brightness, contrast, hue and saturation levels.
Use a selection tool to isolate a portion of the image.
Desaturate the selected portion of the image.
Use a filter or colorize a portion of the image.

Process:

I took this picture using my little Canon PowerShot camera.


Even though it was a point and shoot camera I was able to
take this nice shot. I then took my image into Photoshop and
cropped it to a 66 inch square. I then selected the background
using the quick selection tools, and applied the gaussian blur
filter. I finally desaturated the the background color.

Logos
Description:

Three logo variations for the same company.

Objectives:

Create a variety of logos to fit a company or personal image.


Use the basic tools of Illustrator.

Process:

This was really fun to create a logo in Illustrator. I used the


direct selection tool to create an outline of each of the letters. I
then used the direct select tool to manipulate the size and shape
to create each logo. I tried different styles and letter positioning
to see if any were more attractive.

Webpage
Description:

A web page designed to showcase a personally created


logo.

Objectives:

Size and optimize an original logo as a .png for a web page.


Write content to describe the process of creating your logo and
how it appeals to a target audience.
Design a web page using HTML to display a logo and content.
Acquire a working knowledge of HTML and basic
understanding of CSS.
Identify hex colors for web design.

Process:

I used Wordwrangler to edit my HTML and CSS files


for this project. I used basic HTML coding to create
the different page elements such as image placement,
creating an unorganized list with bulleted list items,
and a link to my blog. I used basic CSS coding to fill
in the design elements of the web page including the
background color, heading font size, and color.

Business Card
Description:

Matching letterhead and business card designed using a


personally created logo.

Objectives:

Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image.


Design consistent layouts for a business card.
Use the basic tools of Illustrator & InDesign.

Process:

I used the rectangle tool to create the front outline of my


business card. I kept the logo and contact information
about the same size as the information on the letterhead.
I used the indirect select tool to give each letter an
outline. I then used the direct select tool to make the
letters interactive. By adjusting the sizes, I fit the G,J,
and B inside one another to create the design.
