Precedent
President Manuel Quezon controlled the National Assembly which enacted the Natio
nal Defense Act of 1935
President Ferdinand Marcos issued Presidential Decree No. 1706 in 1980
There have been several legal precedents to the National Service Training Progra
m (NSTP) Act of 2001. These include:
Commonwealth Act No. 1
Main article: National Defense Act of 1935
Commonwealth Act No. 1, otherwise known as the "National Defense Act", was enact
ed by the National Assembly of the Philippines on 21 December 1935. It provided
for obligatory military service for all male citizens of ages between 18 and 30.
Presidential Decree No. 1706
Presidential Decree No. 1706, otherwise known as the "National Service Law", was
signed by President Ferdinand Marcos on 8 August 1980. It made national service
obligatory for all Filipino citizens and specified three categories of national
service: civic welfare service, law enforcement service and military service.
Republic Act 7077
Republic Act 7077, otherwise known as the "Citizen Armed Forces of the Philippin
es Reservist Act", was enacted by the 8th Congress of the Philippines on 27 June
1991. The Reservist Act provided for organization, training and utilization of
reservists, referred to in the Act as "Citizen Soldiers". The primary pool of ma
npower for the reservist organization are graduates of the Reserve Officers' Tra
ining Corps basic and advance courses.
Statistics
According to the Commission on Higher Education, over a ten-year period from 200
2-2012 the CWTS component has produced 8,614,000 graduates, the highest among th
e three NSTP components. This is followed by the ROTC component, with 1,435,000
AFP reservists and the LTS component with 538,700 graduates
becoming a wasteland. The paradise was left to us to be taken care of, not to b
e destroyed, but since we can t undone the things that we had done in the past few
millennia we can still prevent the total destruction that may happen, by suppor
ting and be an active member of the CLEAN AND GREEN program of the government an
d do the things that can still save mother earth like putting the proper garbage
in the proper trash can, planting of trees, etc.
DISASTER AWARENESS, PREPAREDNESS AND MANAGEMENT: As what I said
earlier, we are changing in all aspects, and as we change the world change, and
we suffer more violent reactions from mother earth, that s why as early as now, a
college freshmen, we should be prepared in whatever ways, cause we don t know what
will happen in the future or even in a little span of time.
