Given 6 colours, in how many ways can you colour a cube with the given colours such
each face has a different colour? A colour combination that results due to the rotation of
another cube will be considered same.
Nitin Gupta Let the six faces be a, b, c, d, e and f. With face a opposite face b, there are
six arrangements for the other four colors around the cube: cdef, cdfe, cedf, cefd, cfde
and cfed. Likewise for face a opposite face c; face a opposite face d; face a opposite face
e; face a opposite face f; all have six arrangements for the remaining four colors. Hence
the total is 5 x 6 = 30 arrangements
Chandrasekhar Singh Colour any one face with any one colour to start with. Now the
opposite face to this already painted face can be coloured in 5 ways. Each of these 5
ways will give a distinct cube i.e no amount of rotation will make any two identical. We
are left with four faces which can be considered a circular arrangement. So number of
ways to colour them is 3! = 6 ways. Total ways = 5*6=30
Any easy method for calculating number not divisible by 2,3,4,5 between 200
and 300 ? http://www.pagalguy.com/forums/quantitative/number-system-prob-t1976/

Anurag Mathur Any number divisible by 2, is divisible by 4 as well... so forget about divisibility
by 4..
Every number divisible by 5, ends with 0 or 5.
Ones that end with 0 are divisible by 2, so forget these,...... ones that end with 5 are 205,215...295, total
10, and out of these, 225,225+30, 225+60 are divisible by 3, so remove these, as of now divisible only
by 5 = 7
divisible by 2=51
divisible by 3 = 33
divisible by 6 = 16
only by 2 or 3 = 51+33-16 = 68
only by 2 or 3 or 5= 68+7 = 75
total not divisible by these = 100-75= 25
Mohit Jain Thanks Anurag Mathur just make little correction 101-75=26 is answer..
Indrajeet Singh (300-210)(1/2)(2/3)(4/5)
=>90*4/15=24-1=23
nw btwn 200 and 210,
3 such no.s ie., 203,206,209
so total 23+3=26
Indrajeet Singh Just an application of euler.
Sri Krishna Indrajeet why did you start from 210 ?
Indrajeet Singh Coz we are considering 2,3,5
lcm=30,
so those no.s need to be a multiple of 30, thats y
Chandrasekhar Singh In any set of 2*3*5 i.e. 30 numbers, the number of numbers not divisible by 2, 3,
5 is (2 - 1)(3 - 1)(5 - 1) i.e. 8. Thus from 1 to 30, there are 8 such numbers; from 31 to 60, there are
further 8 and so on.
From 1 to 210, there are 8*7 = 56 such numbers. Enumerating from 200 to 210, there are 2 such
numbers. Thus from 1 to 199, there are 54 such numbers.
From 1 to 300, there are 8*10 = 80 such numbers.
From 200 to 300, there are 80 - 54 = 26.
Else as Indrajeet Singh has explained beautifully, we can also directly count in the range 210 to 300.
Chandrasekhar Singh Indrajeet Singh correcting the oversight, 90*4/15 = 24. There will be 24
numbers co-prime to 2, 3, 5 from 210 to 300.
And from 200 to 209, there are 2 such numbers 203, 209.
So total is still 24 + 2 = 26.
Indrajeet Singh sir ya bt i did -1 as no.s is asked between 200 and 300, so to eliminate 300 i did dat..
so shudnt it b 25 then?
Chandrasekhar Singh 24 are the number of co-prime to 2, 3 & 5. So 300 is not counted in the 24. So
we do not have to subtract a number which is not counted.
