REPORT FOR DEEP BOREHOLE DRILLING AT ST. BONAVENTURE

MULAJJE PRIMARY SCHOOL, LUWERO DISTRICT.
Drilling of a deep water borehole was done at St. Bonaventure Mulajje
Primary School in July 2012. It was done as per the recommendations in the
report of the water siting consultant. The exercise was well accomplished by
Waterford Contractors & Consultants Limited. Below are tables that give the
location, drilling details and lithology of the project.

Quality of Water
Water samples were drawn and taken to National Water and Sewerage
Corporation (NWSC) Central Laboratory for analysis of the key quality
parameters like pH, Electrical Conductivity, Colour (apparent), Turbidity, Total
Dissolved Solids, Total Suspended Solids, Alkalinity, Hardness, Bi-Carbonate,
Iron and Faecal coliforms .
Type of sample drawn
The sample taken for analysis was drawn at the well development stage.
Results and conclusions
The results of the quality analysis showed that the well had satisfactory
physio-chemical and bacteriological characteristics. The parameters whose
results exceeded the National Standards were Colour, Turbidity and Total
Suspended Solids. It is paramount to note that these particular three
parameters are linked to the type of sample that was drawn at the well
development stage. The Contractor would have picked the sample after this
stage when there is complete settlement.
The water drawn at the well after all these processes has better aesthetic
properties and can be used for all domestic work and drinking.
