A Michigan man has sued his former employers, Ford Motor Company and Rapid Global Business Solutions Inc., for discrimination after, he claims, he was fired for writing an anti-gay comment on an article posted on the company website.
The religious discrimination lawsuit was filed in federal court July 10 on behalf of Thomas Banks, a Christian and an engineer who reportedly was a Ford employee on assignment with RGBSI for three years.
In July of last year, Banks commented on an article posted to Ford’s intranet that celebrated the 20th anniversary of GLOBE, a group that aims to foster an inclusive workplace environment for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Ford employees.
Ford has no place promoting sodomy or “immoral sexual conduct” and should be “thoroughly ashamed,” Banks wrote in the comment, included in the legal complaint. He added that the article was an assault on his religious beliefs.
