WORK PROCEDURE:-

4.1

Material Handling & Storage

Clean sand shall be stockpiled on sheeting and covered with the same material or
polythene sheeting so that inclusion of foreign materials is prevented. Cement shall be
OPC and shall be kept properly.

4.2

Preparation of Background
The background should be sufficiently true and even in line and plumb to
accommodate the plaster and shall have no cracks or tie holes etc
Remove dust, loose particles, grease, mould oil and traces of foreign materials
which may affect the adhesion of the plaster material, for both concrete masonry
units and concrete walls.
Request for inspection from the Doosan & Qatalum engineers to check the
background preparation and it shall be cleared for rush & finish coat application.

4.3

Fixing of plastering accessories, plumb guides buttons etc.

Check and fix Metal Lath and fittings prior to any application of rush coat and
Plaster to masonry unit as shown in the drawing.
Provide guide buttons to concrete masonry unit and concrete walls to ensure
plumb and straightness of plaster prior to application of rush coat.
Install /fix plaster stop beads, angle bead, movement bead, etc as shown in the
drawing.

4.4

Preparation and application of mixes for rush coating.

Mix a 50 kg. bag of Portland Cement with 11 to 13 liters of potable water by hand

mixing until the desired consistency and workable mix is obtained.Apply the mix
directly over the concrete block work
Mix sand and ordinary Portland cement in a mechanical mixer or by hand mixing of
ratio 1:3 and let it continue until a uniform appearance of the material is obtained.
Add water to the mix and let the mixing continue until the required consistency is
obtained for spraying by spray machine and the wet mix shall be workable.
Using manual spray machine, apply ordinary cement/sand mortar mix for masonry
walls, for at least a 2-3 mm thickness for internal walls
Curing time for rush coat is to be done by spraying clean water for at least 2 times a
day.
4.5

Application for finish coating.

Wet the surface by spraying potable water, and dont leave the surface totally dry.
Apply mortar mix finish coat to the surface up to 10 mm of ratio 1:4 or a combined
total thickness with rough coat to 12 mm maximum for internal walls. An expanded
metal lath shall be fixed to the 2nd coat surface using concrete nail or other suitable
approved fixing material. Rush coating will then be applied to the surface of metal
lath prior to the finish coating taking into consideration that rush/base coating shall
always be of stronger mix.
If necessary plaster coat to accept tile finish shall be the same mix composition, with
2 coats composed of rush coat and scratch coat for 12 mm maximum thickness.
Curing of plaster shall be done by sprinkling the surface with clean water twice daily
for 3 consecutive days.
All plaster applications, materials, composition, and mixes shall comply with
BS 5492 and BS 8000: Part 10 for internal plastering.

5.

RESOURCES:
One no mixer machine, measuring box for sand, approved hand tools, shovels and
Boss/ Makita Drilling machine etc shall be engaged for the above work.
