Servimetals products address needs of multiple business sectors

At Acesco Caribe Manufacturing, success remains strong as steel

BY MARIO BELAVAL DAZ

hrough a commercial platform complemented by different important logistics

tools, Acesco Caribe Manufacturing has continued its growth and consolidation in the
region.
Our mission always reminds us that we must
improve every day to remain competitive in the
demanding steel market, said Nelson Narvez,
sales manager at Acesco Caribe. Our willingness
to serve, the continuous search for excellence,
loyalty, respect and honesty of every member of
Acesco Caribe will continue to be the values that
our clients, the communities and nations where
we operate will receive from an organization like
ours.
With headquarters in Bayamns Industrial
Luchetti Park, Acesco Caribe began its Puerto
Rico operations 15 years ago, and quickly gained
its rightful place as a world-class provider in the
flat-steel market, serving the principal hardware
stores, general contractors, home centers and
developers through its robust distributors and
direct selling network. Acesco Caribe is the
largest manufacturer and wholesale distributor
of galvanized-steel deck (Metaldeck), type
E roofing panels (Rooftek), tubing, purlin,
track, and stud and roofing components in the
Caribbean area.
We know that receiving the status as a worldclass provider involves an earnest effort to do
our best and working really hard to earn the trust
of our customers and clients, Narvez said.
They are our primary concern and, as a very

important part of our company, our endeavor is

that they always get the best products with the
best assistance.
Acesco Caribe is part of one of the largest
manufacturer groups in Latin America, with
operations in Ecuador, Costa Rica, Panama,
Colombia and the Dominican Republic.
Acesco Group has been participating for more
than 40 years in the flat coated-steel markets.
Through the years, it has become one of the
most important companies in Latin America.
The group has established production plants in
Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Costa Rica and
Puerto Rico. Acesco Group includes the Navesco
affiliate, which possesses more than 16 vessels

for maritime transportation of all international

transactions.
Acesco Caribes Metaldeck Construction
System changed the concept of floor-structure
construction, consisting of preformed steel sheets
(steel deck) and a concrete slab cast over it,
forming a composite-steel floor deck.
Just as renowned for its quality are the
companys Drywall Steel-Framing Systems,
which consist of galvanized-steel frames used
in the construction of internal and external
partitions in buildings and homes, as well as in
roofing systems with a design and geometry that
provides great structural performance, reinforced
with trapezoids and valleys.
Acesco Caribes mills produce tubing in a variety
of sizes and diameters, ranging in size from half an
inch to 6 inches, in a wide range of configurations
such as round, square, rectangular and isolate
tubing for fencing, furniture, lightweight water
pipe, general manufacturing and the construction
industry (hollow structural sections). The
company produces low-carbon cold-rolled steel in
commercial, structural and deep drawing qualities
in coils and cut-to-length sheets.
Acesco Caribe represents CL Ward products,
which provide a wide array of sheet-metal
accessories for air-conditioning ducts, Narvez
said. The company, he added, has set the standard
for quality products and five-star services in
the industry. Furthermore, our service center
provides steel-processing services such as slitting,
cut to length and blanking, and has the capacity
to process cold- and hot-rolled steel, as well as
galvanized steel, Galvaneal and Galvalume.

stablished in 1988, Servimetal

Inc. is the largest processor,
distributor and manufacturer of
flat-metal products in the Caribbean region. With headquarters in
Caguas, the company operates a
120,000-square-foot state-of-theart plant.
Our three divisions serve the
needs of steel warehouses, multinational original-equipment manufacturers, construction companies,
pharmaceutical plants, food, beverage & spirits distributors, metalsheet fabricators, steel-building
erectors and fabricators, as well as a
wide range of government agencies
that include the Puerto Rico Electric
Power Authority and Puerto Rico
Aqueduct & Sewer Authority, said
Roberto Rivera Castro, vice president of sales. We cover Puerto Rico
and the Caribbean region.
Servimetal operates three divisions: flat roll, roll forming and
flow control. These divisions allow
the company to offer a wide range
of services and products. Our flatproduct division sells hot rolled,
pickled & oiled, cold rolled, galvanized steel, galvannealed, stainless
steel and aluminum coils, strips,
sheets and blanks. We also provide
services such as slitting, cut to length
and blanking. Our flow-control division provides valves, fittings, hoses,
diaphragms, tanks and other specialized equipment to the pharmaceutical, food, beverage & spirits, oil and
gas industries. The roll-form division provides steel building components for the construction industry,
Rivera explained.
The company has a trucking fleet
that includes tractor-trailers, heavyduty trucks and light-cargo trucks,
all of which allow Servimetal to
offer just-in-time deliveries round
the clock to multinational conglomerates, as well as smaller local
enterprises.

A commitment to client satisfaction is key to the companys success. We readily go the extra mile
to help our customers with their
needs, whatever they may be. Our
staff has many years of experience
in this industry and a comprehensive
knowledge of their respective fields.
We strive to always be on top of all
developments pertaining our products, Rivera added.
While taking into consideration the
current economic climate, Servimetal is focusing on continued growth.
Things wont be easy. It will be
bumpy, but we will manage, as we
have done before. We must adapt to
the times, increase our presence in
the market, be more aggressive in
pursuing new business opportunities
and even more aggressive in retaining those we already have, Rivera
said.
According to the executive, unfair competition from companies
without roots on the island, either
from the mainland U.S. or foreign
countries is one of the major challenges the company must face. Our
commitment to the well-being of our
customer base is real. We will do
whatever it takes to remain loyal to
them and work toward a mutually
beneficial relationship, he said.
Emphasizing Servimetals core
promise, he added: We will continue to satisfy the needs of our
customers, effectively and speedily, without sacrificing our quality
standards. That is our commitment
and obligation to our customers.
