 BOARD AND COMMITTEE CHAIRS WORK SESSION: The Board will hold the first of its 2010 semi-annual work
sessions with LMOA Committee Chairs on Mon., Feb. 22, at 7:30PM in the Faulconer Room. The chairs are invited to make short
reports on current and planned 2010 activities by their committees. President Leighton Cumming and other Directors will talk about
LMOA process and expectations for committees. Any LMOA member may attend the work session. Time will be allotted for member
comments before the start of the discussion between Directors and committee chairs.
 COMMITTEE ORIENTATION – A Learning Opportunity for Committee Members:
Early in each year, LMOA holds a Committee Orientation for veteran and new committee members on the
importance, role and responsibilities of committees within the LMOA operation. The meeting will be held at
6:30PM in the Faulconer Room on Mon., Feb. 22, just prior to the Board and Committee Chairs work
session (see above). All committee members are encouraged to attend. Presenters will be President
Leighton Cumming, General Manager John Korhonen and Communications Manager Peggy Alexander.

DOWNED TREE CLEANUP UNDERWAY

LMOA Maintenance personnel have begun cleaning up downed and/or broken trees along Jefferson Drive. Beginning next week,
two crews will be working their way around the community to cut and chip within the 10-foot utility right of way along streets and on
LMOA property. Chips will be hauled to Bunker Ball Field and Tufton Pond parking areas and the old stables area, and will be available
for residents’ use.
Residents are responsible for tree clean up on their own lots. Although LMOA does not recommend tree contractors, there are many
qualified local contractors listed in local publications’ classified ads and in the yellow pages.

THE FEBRUARY BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING will be held on Thurs., Feb. 25. The meeting will be called to order at 6PM
and go immediately into executive session to discuss legal, contract and personnel matters. The meeting will reconvene in open
session in the Terrace Room at 7PM. There will be two member comment periods (see below). Sign up in advance at the
Administration Office or before call to order in the Terrace Room. Also, members may contact Meg Gore in advance at

 COMMUNITY SERVICE ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
∗ BOARD ELECTION: If you want to help make decisions that will protect and preserve the quality of life in our community, please
consider running for the LMOA Board of Directors. There will be two vacancies on the Board at the end of June. Candidates are
needed to ensure that members will have a choice on who will represent them for the next three years. The election is part of the 38th
Annual Meeting, which will take place on Sat., June 26, but candidates must complete the petition process that is underway now.
Any LMOA property owner who meets Bylaw requirements is eligible, regardless of age, sex or educational, social or cultural
background.
∗ MEMBER PROPOSALS: LMOA members in good standing may sponsor member proposals on items they would like to present for
member vote at the Annual Meeting in June. To be qualified for member vote, proposals must meet Bylaw requirements, and sponsors
must follow the petition process, which is underway.
∗ INFORMATION ABOUT THE PETITION PROCESS AND PETITION PACKETS for candidates and member proposals are
available now. Call Communications Manager Peggy Alexander at 589-8263, ext. 111. Deadline for completed petition packets to
be returned to LMOA is March 29.

LMOA FINANCE COMMITTEE WILL HOST a joint meeting with the Building Roads and Grounds Committee and Audit Committee at
7PM on Tues., Feb. 23, in the Terrace Board Room. The committees will discuss pending revisions to PM 4.02A, LMOA Financial
Management Policy. The proposed revisions are on the agenda for the Feb. 25 Board of Directors meeting as a first reading.

EAGLES NEST GRAND OPENING will be Mon., March 1, under the new management of food service professionals Mike and Dana
Hartling, owners of the Dogwood Cafe. Hours of operation will be 7AM to 5PM daily. See the Feb. 26 Friday Flyer for more information.

BOAT OWNERS, if your boat is stored at the Marina, please check it for damage. The recent heavy storms have flattened the covers
of many stored boats.

AUDIT COMMITTEE HAS VACANCIES: If you are looking for rewarding community service, please consider the LMOA Audit
Committee. The Committee conducts internal audits, is primary interface with the independent auditor and makes recommendations for

GOLF COMMITTEE MEETING TIME CHANGE: Effective with the March 10 meeting, the Golf Committee meeting time has been
changed to 4PM. The meeting will be held in the Crofton Room.

FISHING SEMINAR RESCHEDULED: The latest snowfall resulted in cancellation of the fishing seminar that was planned for Feb. 15.
The seminar, with presenter Paul St. Clair, has been rescheduled for Mon., March 15, at 7PM in the Terrace Room. You may sign up in
advance by emailing bopiergroup@gmail.com. Walk-ins also welcome. The seminar is FREE and open to the public. Sponsored by
Bo’s Pier Group, which is actively working with LMOA to make the Community Fishing Pier a reality.

DIG A LITTLE and save your home, your life or the life of someone you love. When snow and ice seem to have covered
everything, it’s important to make sure emergency response teams can find your house and fire hydrants. Watching a Rescue vehicle
trying to find the correct address on Jefferson Drive during one of our recent snows confirmed the importance of keeping the E-911
house numbers as visible as possible. Also, clear snow and ice from the fire hydrant nearest your house so Fire personnel can get
access in case of fire. Please don’t leave your health and home to chance. If you are unable to do this work, ask a family member,
friend or neighbor. It could mean the difference between safety and tragedy.

sponsored event helps recycle unwanted, yet workable/useful items. Bring household items, clothes, toys/games/craft items, fully
functional electronics, etc. To get rid of items too large to bring to the Clubhouse, bring a photo with contact information that can be
posted. No limit on number of items you may bring or take. All items remaining at the end of the Swap will be removed by a local
