NCBM ACA Cover Letter 8-7-13 1 PM.docx

I have made my edits and the document is attached. I had 2 things I was unsure
about that hopefully you can help with: what the header should say, and how to
phrase the 2nd goal of getting as many Mayors as possible involved.
If you have anything else I should edit, please let me know.

Draft of NCBM ACA email
Wednesday, August 07, 2013 9:37:53 AM

Dear members of the National Conference of Black Mayors,

It is my pleasure to invite you to a conference call on the role of the NCBM in the
Affordable Care Act (ACA), hosted by Secretary of Health and Human Services,
Kathleen Sebelius.

The ACA offers a historic opportunity for millions of Americans to obtain life-saving
healthcare at a low cost. However, too few of our constituents understand their
options and resources for accessing this coverage.

The White House has reached out to the NCBM specifically to help ensure these
individuals do not fall through the cracks in our healthcare system again. As trusted
leaders in the black community, which faces higher rates of many preventable
illnesses, we as Mayors can play a vital role in raising public awareness in our cities.
Please join us for the call on August 19 from 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM CT / 1:30 PM 2:30 PM ET. The call-in number and agenda are forthcoming.

Draft of Talking Points
Monday, August 12, 2013 4:29:36 PM
NCBM ACA TP 8.12.13.docx

Hi Cassandra,
Here is my first draft of the Mayor's talking points. Please critique, and let's review
when you have a chance.
-I still am not sure who will be attending from the White House and DHHS
-I am also not sure if we decided upon any goals/specific calls to action - (eg. 100
events, 1000 constituents enrolled)--I think those things could be good rallying-cries
but I am just not sure if they are feasible
