Social Anxiety leads to the different effects such as social rejection, social
isolation, stress and etc. It gives the person false beliefs and information towards
social situations and negative opinions of others. It makes the person endure social
situations in extreme distress. It leads to negative effects on social communities and
can lack stable communication.
Introduction
Social Anxiety can either start early childhood which some, grow out of, or
may persist to grow in, or start in early adulthood where it may result in
awkwardness, loneliness, and maybe even depression. This may even result to
death through suicide if not taken care of properly. It is very debilitating as it can
affect your social and work skills.
Social Anxiety has a number of factors which increases the risk of being
affected by it. It maybe your Family History, Environment, Temperament, the people
around you, or maybe even your own self. This makes Social Anxiety very hard to
tackle onto as its factors are rather hard areas to move through.
Social Anxiety though has a few ways of being treated though not completely
but to the point that the person can again interact with people. One being
Psychotherapy where the person is given a chance to interact with people while
learning how to deal with his own anxiety. The other being medications which in our
time is pretty common due to the advancing technologies of today.
Architecturally, creating spaces for people who suffer from Social Anxiety can
actually be a solution to deal with this. This way, architecture can actually help even
in curing disorders and sickness even if it is by luck and chance.
Theoretical Framework
1. Treatment through Psychotherapy in which the person is thought how to
recognize and change negative thoughts about himself.
2. Treatment through medications are used to treat social anxiety.
Conceptual Framework
1. Designing a Treatment Institute having activities focused on treating
Social Anxiety through interaction to provide a better way of social
interaction for people who suffer from it.
2. Designing a Treatment Center that uses auditory therapy and physical
interaction therapy that is associated with controlling space for better
movements and interaction.
Hypothesis
1.) A person can overcome his nervousness to social interactions by practicing
daily conversations to other people.
2.) Shutting off your imaginations and assumptions can help a person overcome
his/her overthinking of what others think on him/her.
3.) Having a simple calm breathing help a person relax and calm down quickly.
4.) Knowing your fears and identifying what is causing your phobia can help you
overcome it.
5.) Doing something spontaneous in public can help you overcome the
"embarrassment factor".
6.) Finding people who has the same interest and skills makes it easier to force
that person to talk.
Assumptions
Social anxiety is one of the most major disorder that almost every people
has. Social anxiety covers fear, embarrassment, and prevents social interaction for
people. This makes it a lot harder for them to move around crowded areas or force
themselves to act based on their own beliefs. Because of social anxiety, majority of
people would rather feign ignorance over their fear of being wrong rather than
doing what is rather right for them.
This study in social anxiety was conducted to analyze and to create a proper
building instrument in which can help people who suffer from social anxiety either
by minimizing it or by completely abolishing it from there thinking so that they may
properly be able to interact with people. The study, though, will be limited only in
finding out architectural spaces and ideas that may help in properly solving social
anxiety through different kinds of methods.
This study aims to reduce the number of people who suffer from social
anxiety may it be during childhood or adulthood through giving a chance of
interacting with people who also have the same case in a space in which can
support the person and the like to solve the social anxiety they feel around groups
of people
