The History:
The company of Ernie Ball was created out of
a guitar shop in the 1960s, when the owner
saw a need for lighter gauged strings for the
guitars. After big name companies scoffed
at his suggestion Ernie Ball created his own
company and it took off with his idea to
create better, more flexible guitar strings.
Eventually Ernie Ball ended his guitar shop
and focused solely on strings, and now his
strings are one of the most common guitar
strings on the market.

The Problem:
Ernie Ball guitar strings were the cutting
edge, and now they are largely the norm, the
company needs to a way to revolutionize the
industry again.
This package is a way to step out from the
rest, by how the packages are.
Guitar string packages are largely the same.
They are either a cardboard pouch of six
envelopes with individual coiled strings in
them or the packages are one envelope with
six inter-connected, coiled strings;
both of which whip apart when uncoiled,
and like to get tangled.

The Solution:
A new packaging system will be designed
for Ernie Ball strings which will allow each
string to be dispensed in an easy manner.
This would allow for the easy restringing of
a guitar. Guitar strings snap fairly regularly
over the life of a guitarist, and all such are
familiar with the chore. The new package
will allow guitar players to restring their
instruments quickly and return to playing.

The Target:
Serious guitar players will enjoy this
product. They have all restrung their guitars
more times than theyd like and they know
the impracticality of the current guitar string
packaging. This new design will allow them
all to enjoy an easier and quicker way to
restring their guitars with Ernie Ball guitar
strings.
