Part No. 701-000056

Description: Anti-static Kit
Usage: This kit retrofits WBA-SU units manufactured
prior to August, 2001 to add increased static protection to
the unit. All WBA-SU units manufactured after August,
2001 already have these kits installed.
Note: During standard operations, excessive static
build-up can send a false cheat attempt code to the host
machine, or cause a bill jam.
JCM Engineering has created this Anti-static Kit for the
earlier WBA-SU units consisting of three additional
grounding harnesses and two conductive brushes. The kit
components dissipate static build-up resolving both the
false cheat and bill jamming conditions.

Technical Tips
Question: What's the best way to troubleshoot the WBA?
Answer: Use the built in diagnostic tests and the JCM Quick Reference Guide,
P/N 960-000027.
Workbench Method Start by setting the DIP Switch Block to the following positions:

ID = WBABookletsmMono.jpg

Switch 8 to ON and Switches 1 through 7 to OFF. This action puts the WBA into the test mode.
Apply power to the Bill Validator, and observe the two LEDs located next to the DIP Switches.

Both LEDs should illuminate within a few seconds. If only one illuminates, and the second briefly
flashes, a software error condition is indicated. If this condition occurs, replace the EPROM or
re-download the software if the WBA contains flash memory.
JCM Quick Reference Guide
If neither LED illuminates, check the power supply and harnessing. The Bezel LEDs will be
flashing at a constant rate if the unit is operating properly. If the Bezel LEDs flash a specific number of times, pause, and repeat
the flashing sequence, count the number of flashes and refer to the JCM Quick Reference Guide error code table to determine
the condition being reported. The best way to locate a fault is by using the Bill Acceptance Test as follows:
With a Cash Box and frame, turn on DIP Switches 1, 2, 3 & 4. Without a Cash Box, just turn on DIP Switches 1, 2 & 3.
Now turn DIP Switch 8 OFF to start the test. The unit will cycle once and be ready to accept bills. Test the unit with several
different bills. If the unit fails for any reason, count the number of flashes indicated by the Bezel LEDs and refer to the JCM
Quick Reference Guide error tables to determine the condition being reported. The JCM Quick Reference Guide also contains
several other tests to further diagnose which component is causing the fault indicated.
