BASIC CODES OF PRACTICE AND STANDARDS

GENERAL
The Contractor shall design, supply Permanent Materials and construct the Works (to the extent
provided for by the Construction Specifications Particular) fully in accordance with the
requirements of the Contract including the Codes of Practice, Standards and Regulations which are
stated in the Construction Specifications Particular.

1.2

APPLICABLE CODES OF PRACTICE, STANDARDS AND REGULATIONS

A list follows of Codes of Practice and Standards which are generally relevant to the design and
construction of pipelines. Those which are applicable to this Contract should be stated in the
Particular Specifications ensuring that the latest and current editions are used.
Whereas it is recognised that worldwide there are many various codes and practices applicable to
pipeline construction in individual countries, it has been practicable to quote only the applicable
American and British Codes in this Standard Form of Contract.
Where particular projects require the work to be constructed under codes other than those listed
herein they should be set forth in the Particular Specifications.

The Contractor shall retain on the Site a copy of all Codes of Practice, Standards and
Regulations to which the Particular Specifications refer, for inspection by the Engineer
and the Engineers Representative when required.
