TIME

CONTENT STANDARD:
The students are able to demonstrate their appreciation of the mission of Jesus in establishing the Kingdom of God on earth through His life, words(parable) and
deeds(miracles) as we become better witnesses of Gods saving love.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD:
Students are able to demonstrate their skills in creatively illustrating a relationship with the person of Jesus in the Gospel through creating a comic illustration on
their own parable.

CONTENT:
In this module, we will learn that the mission of Jesus was to establish Gods Kingdom on earth. He carried out his mission by a ministry of teaching and healing.
Though His words (parables) and deeds (miracles), Jesus brought to the people Gods forgiveness, healing, justice, goodness, and peace. Jesus revealed what it
takes to belong to Gods Kingdom; to live by the Beatitudes and, in a more special way, to show compassion for the poor. Since all Christians share in His mission,
we need the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to become bearers of Gods Kingdom today. The sacrament of Confirmation gives this special empowerment to
Christians.

Comic Illustration on their own Parable
GRASPS:
You are a young author and artist who specialize in creating stories using comic illustrations. You want to reach out to younger children, Grades 4 to 6, and teach
them about Jesus, religious truths about your faith, compassion for less-privileged brothers and sisters, and lessons in life. Using your artistic talents, create a
booklet of your own parable. At the end of the booklet, write the moral lesson of your parable. Your comic book must be creative or eye-catching, value laden and
true to its definition.

STAGE 3: LEARNIING PLAN FLOW


OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the unit, the students will be able to:
Explore the meaning of Gods Kingdom in the Jewish community of Jesus and Jesus own understanding, which come to us in Sacred Scripture and Church
Teaching about the presence of the Kingdom here and now
Respond to the call and task of the Kingdom by decisions grounded on Christian values
Celebrate the glory of Gods love and giving thanks to his abundance of gifts

Hook Activity: Round Song: Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God
1. The teacher will teach the students to sing Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God.
The teacher will use this as a round song together with the class.
2. The teacher will compare the understanding of the students of Kingdom, Kingdom in the Old Testament (OT) and Kingdom proclaimed by the Jews

3. Introduce the EQ to class: How can you practice the teachings of Jesus in real life situations?

INTERACTION
Activity 1: Sunday Gospel Reflection
*Every first meeting of the week, the students are asked to share their responses regarding the recent Sunday Gospel. They may do it in groups or by pairs. Some
students will be selected to echo to the class regarding their sharing on their reflections on the Sunday Gospel.
Chapter 4: Welcoming Gods Kingdom
Activity 4: Kingdom Acrostics
1. Short Discussion on Picturing the Kingdom of God (refer pages 66-73).
2. Create an acrostic on the word KINGDOM. For each letter, write something that you have learned about the Kingdom of God. Answers should start wit the letters
of the word KINGDOM.
Activity 5: Word Analysis of AFFIRM and CONFIRM
1. Students will be asked about the difference of the words Affirm and Confirm.
2. Short Discussion on The Confirmed Christian (refer to pages 74-76).
3. EQ will be posted and discussed in the context of the recent discussion: How can you practice the teachings of Jesus in real life situations?

**The teacher gives a 20-item test covering the things discussed in the chapter. Check answers after the test. An open-forum will be given to discuss questions and
answers regarding the test.
Chapter 5: Believing the Good News of the Kingdom
Activity 6: Clay Modeling of the Parables
1. The teacher will group the students in their Type C groupings.
2. Each group will be given a parable of the Kingdom to symbolize.
3. Students will be given 15-20 minutes to discuss with their group regarding the symbol they will use to represent the parables given to them.
4. After 20 minutes, a representative of a group who volunteers will explain 2-3 sentences about the symbol of their Parable.
5. Short Discussion on Searching for the Good News in Parables (refer to pages 83-86).
Activity 7: Poem Writing on the Kingdom of God
1. Short Discussion on Seeing the Power and Goodness of Jesus in His Miracles (refer to pages 87-93)
2. Students will be asked to compose a short poem (2 stanzas of 4 lines each) that illustrates their understanding of what the Kingdom of God is.
3. They must create their own creative title.
4. This activity will be done in groups of 4.
5. After composition, they will read their poem in class.

6. Poem written will be graded according to content, relevance to theme and creativity.
7. EQ will be posted and discussed in the context of the recent discussion: How can you practice the teachings of Jesus in real life situations?

Chapter 6: Living the Kingdom Values
Activity 8: PowerPoint Presentation on Beatitudes
1. Short Discussion on Living the Beatitudes (refer to pages 99-108) through a PowerPoint Presentation.
2. Beatitudes will be discussed according to their meanings and values upheld.
3. An open forum on the beatitudes will be held to entertain questions regarding the topic discussed.
Activity 9: Scripture Analysis on Passages of responding with compassion
1. The students will be asked to read several passages from the Sacred Scriptures:
a. Matthew 14:14
b. Mark 6:34
c. Mark 6:50
d. Mark 8:2
e. Luke 7:13
2. They will be asked to identify the human need to which Jesus responded with compassion in each passage.
3. Answers will be listed on their notebooks and shared in the class orally.
4. Short Discussion on Reaching Out to the Poor and Outcast (refer to pages 109-118).
5. EQ will be posted and discussed in the context of the recent discussion: How can you practice the teachings of Jesus in real life situations?

Scaffold Activity: Composing Own Kingdom Parable
1. Students will be asked to read an example of a modern day parable. (The Parable of the Closed Door, page 87).
2. They will be given the time to compose their own parable. They are to compare the Kingdom of God to something popular to young people today.
3. Their draft will be checked by the teacher.
Performance Task: Comic Illustration of Own Parable
1. The GRASPS for the Performance Task and the Rubric for Grading will be reviewed in class.
