The management and organisation of the business, teams and individuals performance is
important and must be measured. What is the principle (purpose) of performance
measurement systems?
Following are the purpose of performance measurement system:

To Evaluate the work- Primarily the performance measurement is done to see whether the
employees of the organisation is doing their job well according to the plans and whether
they are doing the work rightly or not.

To Control Employees- It is basically the best way to influence the behaviour of the
employees by establishing one best way to do their prescribed tasks and then measuring it in
a particular way.

To Budget- Performance measurement helps the organisation to make budget allocations.

To Motivate- It helps to motivate the employees of the organisation in a way that if they
know that their work will be rewarded in a good manner, so they do their task properly.

To Learn- If the work is to be measured it gives employees the chance of learning if they
are lacking in particular area as it will be brought into the notice.

To improve- It is used by the organisations to make improvements in their work by


measuring their employees performance regularly.

Public Support- If the results are demonstrated publicly then good work can win public
support.

systems.

Following are the principle(purpose) of a personal development plan.

It provides a framework and set a path for the individuals to identify their strengths and
weakness and help them in optimising and capitalising their existing skills and capabilities.

It provides flexibility in achieving individuals goal in a sense that it helps individuals in


procuring new skills and knowledge depending on the final goals to achieve.

It helps in self-evaluation which gives clear picture to individuals about themselves.

It helps individuals in making wise decisions as their strengths are known to them.

It is a career oriented process in a way that it sets a right path heading towards the future.

6. Briefly explain the technique used when organising and managing a personal development
plan.

Setting up aims and objectives- Individual before starting a plan should formulate aims
and objectives that will be carried out during personal development plan, which will give a
clear picture of what is to be done and will automatically helps in prioritising the areas
which requires focus that is there will be no confusion on what is to do or what not.

Assessing the skills- Individual is required to assess the skill which he/she possess and the
skills required to do a task, this can be done with the various skill assessment tools.

Needs of personal development plan- What are the needs of the personal development
plan should be taken into notice and planning should be done according to the needs of that
plan. A detailed development plan stating aims and objectives and the performance of the
individual should be framed.

Organising things required to accomplish the task well at the start so that the plan should
go on without interruption.

7. Identify a business tool or technique that can be used in organising a personal development
plan to identify areas of personal strength and weakness and external factors that may
impact on the plan.

SWOT analysis is basically one of the common tool or technique that identifies the
following:

Strengths- It identifies the strong areas of the business in which the business is doing well,
which give business advantage over others.

Weaknesses- It also identifies the weak areas in which business needs to work hard to
compete with others, it puts business in a disadvantage in relation to others.

Opportunities- Those elements that the business should exploit upto its maximum level.

Threats- Internal or External factors that could trouble the business.


Identification of SWOT is very important for the business as this will impact business and
its plan.

As well as using SMART to set goals, the principles in personal goal setting also include
monitoring and rewards. Explain the importance of monitoring and rewards in goal
setting. List 5 of the principles of time management.
Importance of Monitoring and Rewards in goal setting:

Once the goal is set doesn't mean that the task is over, practically the task begins from there
which means that the task should be monitored on the daily basis so as to find out the errors
or the mistakes made by employees during the goal achievement and correcting it on the
daily basis. So, monitoring is important in a sense that mistakes are rectified daily rather
than at the end when the work get completed which infact will prove a burden to the
employees. Monitoring infact motivates employ to achieve goal as they come to know daily
whether the work done by them is correct or not, if correct employees will be motivated.

Rewarding the work done by the employees not only motivate employees for the future
goals but also gives them the feeling of belongingness to the employees as they feel that
they are very important and integral part of the organisation.

Keeping the Focus on the goals which have been set.

Creating Feasible deadline.

Effectiveness and Efficiency of the work.

Informal self development It is the non-standard or accidental way of the development of


the individual. In this type of development there are no goals set and even no training is
imparted, it comes naturally in the sense that even the people don't know or are not aware of
the development, but this type of development is the deepest form of learning as it occurs
naturally. Example daily chit chat among the employees on the job.

Formal Self-development It is the standard form of development of the individual which


helps in the development of the individual by the willingness that is it is not incidental and

person is aware of what he is going to do. This is the best method as a person is full aware of
the development process.Example Imparting proper training for a particular task.
11. An organisations policies and procedures are essential in order to ensure consistency in its
daily operations. They provide clarity and direction in order to meet their legal and statutory
requirements.

It gives out the framework of the job which is to be done by the employees so they
are aware of what needs to be done.
So that efficiency of a particular job is met in a way that people will not waste their
time on discussing again and again that what is required to be done.

So that legal and other statutory requirements are met.

Functions of organisation's procedure:


So that step by step guide is there to guide the employees properly.
So that the risk arising out can be managed properly.
Helps in the improvement of the employees work continuosly.

Learning is a continuos and a very unique process and each and every person learns in his
or her own way and person should prefer that learning style from which he really learns

and is very much comfortable.

work performance for yourself and your team.
Setting the Goals clearly- Goals should be set clearly as management has the clear
picture in mind about what the strategy should, there should be no ambiguity.
Good Behaviour- Performance automatically increases when the manager has a
good behaviour towards the employees as they are well aware of the facts that what
employees expect from them.
Treating employees in a good manner- Managers will get respect if they trest
employees well and help the employees when needed in a manner required. This
makes them employees motivated as they feel they are important to the organisation.
Trustworthy- If the management is the one that the employees can trust on that is
they are always credible, performance increases.
Questioning Themselves- Good employees are one who just don't run away or are
not afraid of questioning themselves whether they are doing the right work,
instructing employees in a right way and saying themselves wrong if they are then
they earn the respect of employees and they think that they are integral part of team.
