Model 1: Single Row Layout

Assumptions of model:
1) The facilities are square or rectangular and their shape are

known a priori.
2) The facilities are arranged along a straight line.
3) The orientation of facilities is known a priori
4) There is no restriction on the shape of building in which the
facilities are to be housed.

Decision variable

Model 2: Multirow Layout

In a facility layout problem in which there are n
facilities to be assigned to n given locations, the
term assignment means matching each facility with
a specific location.
If there are fewer than n, m facilities to be assigned
to n locations, we create n m dummy facilities
and assign a zero flow between each of these and
all others (including dummy facilities).
Quadratic Assignment Problems (QAP) have been
developed to solve multirow layout problem.

The trips from to chart is asymmetric; however we

can convert it to a trips between matrix and make it
symmetric.
Dimension of area each site is 1 m square.
